Rice price on March 27: The rice market in the Mekong Delta traded quite well today, rice prices remained stable while rice exports increased sharply compared to the beginning of the week.

In An Giang, the price of OM 5451 rice ranges from 5,700 to 5,900 VND/kg. Dai Thom 8 and OM 18 rice remain at 6,400 to 6,600 VND/kg. IR 50404 rice is around 5,500 to 5,700 VND/kg. Notably, OM 380 rice increased by 300 VND, to 5,500 to 5,800 VND/kg. Nang Hoa 9 rice continues to be stable at 6,300 to 6,500 VND/kg.

In some provinces such as Bac Lieu, the trading volume is more active. Farmers offer more fragrant rice for sale, while traders actively ask to buy. In Kien Giang, Japonica rice prices have increased slightly, showing increased demand. In Dong Thap, the rice market still maintains stable prices, buying and selling are regular and stable.

In the raw rice group, the price of IR 504 rice remains at 7,700 - 7,800 VND/kg. OM 380 fluctuates from 7,500 to 7,600 VND/kg, while raw rice 5451 is higher, at 8,600 - 8,750 VND/kg. Finished rice OM 380 is currently priced at 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg, IR 504 fluctuates from 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.

By-product prices also remain stable. Grade 3-4 broken rice is being purchased at 6,600 - 6,700 VND/kg. Bran is priced higher, fluctuating between 9,000 - 10,000 VND/kg.

In localities such as An Giang, the amount of rice brought to the market is quite stable. Warehouses continue to buy fragrant rice, while transactions of common white rice are slower. In Lap Vo (Dong Thap), the amount is small but the price remains stable. In Sa Dec and Cai Be (Tien Giang), transactions are also moderate, with prices unchanged.

Retail prices at markets remain stable. Nang Nhen rice remains at its highest price of VND28,000/kg. Regular rice remains at VND15,000 to VND16,000/kg. Fragrant rice varieties such as Jasmine, Huong Lai, Nang Hoa, Thai long grain, Nhat... range from VND18,000 to VND22,000/kg.

While domestic rice prices remained stable, the export rice market witnessed a significant increase in prices. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 5% broken rice increased by 2 USD to 400 USD/ton. 25% broken rice remained unchanged at 369 USD/ton. 100% broken rice increased sharply by 12 USD to 325 USD/ton. This is considered a positive signal, especially in the context of the export market entering a period of competition in terms of supply.
