On February 4, reporters observed that some streets in Hanoi such as Duong Dinh Nghe (Cau Giay), Le Van Luong, To Huu (Ha Dong), Lac Long Quan (Tay Ho) were filled with all kinds of ornamental flowers to serve "customers" during Tet.
According to traders, this year, Phalaenopsis orchids imported from Da Lat are still the most popular type, with many colorful colors such as white, yellow, pink, purple and other types of orchids with beautiful color combinations.
Ms. Nguyen Thuy - a Da Lat orchid vendor on Duong Dinh Nghe street said that currently, the demand for flowers for Tet is increasing, but this year's purchasing power cannot be equal to previous years.
This year, the closer we get to Lunar New Year 2024, the more the price of orchids increases. If a branch of Phalaenopsis orchids cost between 100,000 - 150,000 VND a month ago, now a branch of Phalaenopsis orchids costs between 200,000 - 280,000 VND, depending on size and color.
Phalaenopsis orchid pots are more expensive, ranging from 5 to 7 branches per pot, priced at around 1.6 to 5 million VND. In particular, large orchid pots are being offered for sale at prices ranging from 50 to 150 million VND.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phu - a merchant on Hoang Quoc Viet Street (Cau Giay) said that this year, orchid pots priced from 5 to 30 million VND were chosen by customers to place in their offices or as gifts for customers and partners. Small orchid pots with 3 to 5 branches were chosen by customers to display at home.
Because customers buy orchids as gifts or to display in their workspaces, they are very careful when choosing orchids. Therefore, to create a quality orchid pot that can be displayed for a long time and satisfy customers, Mr. Phu believes that orchid makers must be very meticulous and meticulous when assembling orchid pots.
"A popular orchid pot must have large, fresh, and strangely colored petals, combined with succulents to create highlights," said Mr. Phu.
For customers who buy orchids to display in their home, Mr. Phu said that because Phalaenopsis orchids can last for a long time, from 1.5 to 2 months, plus their bright colors and strong branches, many families prioritize "playing" with Phalaenopsis orchids. However, at this time, although it is the 25th of Tet, only a few families have started looking to buy Phalaenopsis orchids to display during Tet, most are still consulting about price and quality.
