* Pig prices in the Northern region remained stable across the board.
Accordingly, traders in Bac Giang, Hung Yen, Thai Nguyen, Thai Binh and Hanoi are purchasing live pigs at the highest price in the region of 58,000 VND/kg.
Except for Yen Bai province, which is anchored at 56,000 VND/kg, the remaining provinces still maintain transactions at 57,000 VND/kg.
Today's live pig price in the North fluctuates between 56,000 - 58,000 VND/kg.
* The pig market in the Central and Central Highlands regions also recorded a sideways trend.
Accordingly, the price of live pigs in the two provinces of Binh Dinh and Dak Lak is 55,000 VND/kg - the lowest in the region.
Slightly higher at 56,000 VND/kg are Ha Tinh, Khanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan. The remaining provinces continue to stay at 57,000 VND/kg.
Currently, the purchase price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions is around 55,000 - 57,000 VND/kg.
* In the Southern region, pig prices have no new changes today.
Currently, 58,000 VND/kg is the highest price of live pigs in the region recorded in Bac Lieu and Ca Mau.
55,000 VND/kg is the lowest purchase price recorded in Ho Chi Minh City. The remaining provinces and cities have stable transaction prices in the range of 56,000 - 57,000 VND/kg.
The price of live pigs in the Southern region today fluctuates between 55,000 - 58,000 VND/kg.
* Pig prices have decreased in many localities across the country, especially in the southern provinces. Many farmers are worried that this is a sign of a new cycle with a downward trend in prices because current purchasing power in the market is not high.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in August 2023, 33 African swine fever outbreaks occurred nationwide in 15 provinces and cities.
Since the beginning of the year, the country has had 264 outbreaks in 38 provinces and cities; the total number of pigs culled is 10,468. Compared to the same period in 2022, the number of outbreaks decreased by 74.41%; the number of pigs culled at outbreaks decreased by 79.13%. Currently, the country has 50 outbreaks in 30 districts of 15 provinces that have not passed 21 days.
In Bac Kan, African swine fever continues to develop complicatedly. Up to now, there have been 3 districts with outbreaks: Na Ri, Pac Nam and Ngan Son. The total number of infected, dead and destroyed livestock is 187 (from July 26 to August 31).
In Lai Chau, from the beginning of 2023 until now, African swine fever has occurred in 113 households, cooperatives/13 villages in 6 communes of Nam Nhun, Muong Te, Phong Tho, Sin Ho districts and Lai Chau city. The total number of pigs that died or were destroyed due to disease or suspected disease was 837 with a weight of 37,813 kg.
Currently, the whole province still has 2 outbreaks of African swine fever in Phong Tho district and Lai Chau city that have not passed 21 days.
