According to statistics from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the 2023-2024 crop year, the country exported more than 1.4 million tons of coffee, with an export turnover exceeding 5.4 billion USD. In this context, Dak Lak province stood out with the export of more than 264,400 tons of coffee, accounting for 17.9% of the country's total coffee exports. The province's export turnover reached nearly 916 million USD, an increase of more than 168 million USD compared to the previous crop year.
Dak Lak 2/9 Import-Export Company Limited (Simexco Dak Lak) continues to affirm its leading position in exporting coffee beans with 93,510 tons, reaching a turnover of 304.448 million USD. Mr. Le Duc Huy - Chairman of the Board of Members of Simexco Dak Lak shared that 2023-2024 witnessed many events such as price fluctuations, supply chain disruptions and reduced output.
Although output did not meet the plan, with total export and domestic output reaching only 104,000 tons, equivalent to 80% of the plan, the company's total revenue reached a record of more than VND9,000 billion. Mr. Huy emphasized that the lesson learned for 2023-2024 is that "nothing is impossible", in the context of a volatile world situation, from epidemics, wars, to climate change and natural disasters, the agricultural sector will have to face many challenges.
Agricultural prices will fluctuate wildly, surpassing historical price ranges and becoming difficult to predict. Therefore, flexibility and the ability to respond quickly become more important than ever to minimize risks and ensure sustainable development for the Vietnamese coffee industry.
