According to Deadline, One Piece reached 19.3 million views on Netflix Weekly Global from September 4 to September 10. The total number of global viewers of the film in 2 weeks of showing was 37.8 million, a number that the American media assessed as "not small".
One Piece is currently the number one "hot" TV series in 86 countries and territories around the world. However, Deadline newspaper commented that One Piece still has to work harder to become the highest rated TV series in television history.
Experts say that the number of viewers of One Piece will continue to increase because at present, the film seems to have no competitors. The number of people searching for the film on social media platforms shows no signs of cooling down. As of September 11, more than 4 billion searches for the keyword #onepiecenetflix were recorded on TikTok alone.
One Piece is set in a fantasy world and is adapted from the manga of the same name. The film revolves around the character Monkey D. Luffy (played by Inyaki Godoy) who grows up and has the ambition to become the pirate king. By chance, he eats the Gum Gum devil fruit, Monkey D. Luffy has a special ability, which is a body as flexible as rubber.

To increase the authenticity of the film, the "father" of the series - author Eiichiro Oda - was invited to participate in production and write the script.
In an interview with the New York Times, author Oda said: "Actually, at first, I didn't think that adapting One Piece into a live-action version would bring value to the entire brand. I only changed my mind after watching Shaolin Soccer . That movie gave me the feeling of watching a live-action version adapted from a manga (comic book)."
Shaolin Soccer is a comedy-action-martial arts-drama film about sports produced by "King of Hong Kong Comedy" Stephen Chow. The film was released to audiences in 2001 and had a production budget of 10 million USD.

Shaolin Soccer brought Stephen Chow a box office revenue of up to 42.8 million USD. This is considered one of the most excellent works in the filmmaking career of "comedy king" Stephen Chow.
"The success and influence of Shaolin Soccer changed my perspective. I understood that current technology is completely capable of adapting the plot of One Piece manga and creating a successful live-action version. Therefore, I sought partners to turn my vision into reality," said author Oda.
Recently, the producer of One Piece revealed plans to make part 2 of this famous project. Part 2 is expected to be released to fans around the end of 2024 or early 2025.
Currently, the producers have not revealed much information about part 2, but they affirm that fans will not be disappointed. The film's production unit's CEO Marty Adelstrien said that the scriptwriting team is rushing to complete so that part 2 can start filming at the end of 2023.
