Nearly 20% of candidates passed the university entrance exam but did not enroll.

Figures from the Ministry of Education and Training show that up to 117,795 students, although admitted in the first round, did not confirm their enrollment, accounting for 19.2%.

Accordingly, the number of candidates admitted in the first round of 2023 is 612,283, an increase of nearly 45,000 candidates compared to 2022. This number, compared to the total number of candidates applying for university admission this year, accounts for 92.7%.

However, the number of candidates confirming admission in the first round on the system in 2023 is 494,488, accounting for 80.8% of the total number of candidates admitted in the first round. Thus, up to 117,795 students, although admitted in the first round, did not confirm admission, accounting for 19.2%.

Although the number of candidates confirmed for admission in the first round this year is still 31,463 higher than last year, the admission rate after passing the exam is lower (in 2023, this rate was 81.6%).
