At the meeting, the two sides discussed the rapid changes in the world situation, opportunities brought about by the strong development of science and technology, as well as challenges facing multilateral institutions.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated UNIDO's efforts in promoting industrial cooperation and development at many levels, especially in supporting developing countries to develop inclusive and sustainable industries, increase industrial production efficiency, increase labor productivity and increase economic competitiveness.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister emphasized that in the new development stage of the country, industrial development, especially science and technology, innovation is of special importance. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister shared about Vietnam's Industrial Development Strategy, and informed about efforts to promote breakthroughs in industrial science development, innovation and national digital transformation.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son asked UNIDO to continue supporting Vietnam in policy advice on industrial development, science and technology, innovation, research and development, supporting capacity building, increasing industrial production efficiency, added value and competitiveness of industries, building an industry with high adaptability and resilience, and gradually mastering technology. In addition, Vietnam also hopes that UNIDO will promote cooperation in low-emission industry and technology transfer to promote green transformation, digital transformation, and circular economy.
UNIDO Deputy Director General congratulated Vietnam on successfully hosting the P4G. She welcomed Vietnam's active participation and support for multilateralism, especially in the current challenging period.
Expressing his impression of Vietnam's vision for green growth, sustainable and inclusive development and congratulating Vietnam on its rapid development achievements in recent years, the Deputy Director General affirmed that UNIDO is ready to support Vietnam's development priorities and strategies, as well as effectively implement cooperation projects.
