Nearly 11,000 people participate in the marathon in Hai Phong

On the morning of December 17, the official race of the VnExpress Marathon Hai Phong 2023 took place with the following distances: 42 km, 21 km, 10 km and 5 km. Athletes can only choose one distance to compete and must meet the age requirements: for the 42 km distance, they must be 18 years or older; for the 21 km distance, they must be 16 years or older and for the 10 km distance, they must be 12 years or older.

The starting point of the 42 km distance is at the central park area next to the Hai Phong Children's Cultural Palace on Lach Tray Street, Ngo Quyen District. The athletes run through many main streets with famous landmarks of Hai Phong such as: City Theater, Central Flower Garden, Statue of General Le Chan. Then, continue to conquer the route connecting to Do Son tourist area, Do Son District, Hai Phong City.

The marathon in Hai Phong attracted nearly 11,000 athletes.

The remaining three distances start from the Dragon Hill International Tourist Area in Van Huong Ward, Do Son District, Hai Phong City, where athletes will conquer the slopes and roads along the Do Son beach. Along with the 42 km distance, athletes participating in these three distances all have a common finish point at the Dragon Hill International Tourist Area.

Previously, on December 16, the Kun Marathon children's race took place with the participation of 1,500 children aged 6 - 10 years old. They will conquer a distance of about 700 m with a number of challenges and obstacles on the track.

A total of nearly 11,000 athletes of all ages participated in the marathon in Hai Phong. The tournament was co-organized by VnExpress newspaper to contribute to promoting the sports movement as well as helping to promote the development of tourism and service activities in Hai Phong City. The total value of the prizes of the tournament was up to nearly 1 billion VND.

As a result, in the 42 km distance, male athlete Hua Thuan Long won the championship in the men's marathon with a time of 2 hours 34 minutes 29 seconds. Athlete Hong Le won the women's marathon with a time of 2 hours 46 minutes 47 seconds .
