The training course will take place from July 19 to July 23, with the participation of 19 referees and assistants who are currently participating in domestic tournaments. The training course is jointly organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), VPF and the VFF Referee Board. Previously, two VAR referee training courses were successfully organized, with 30 VAR and AVAR referees certified by FIFA to perform their duties.

The difference compared to the previous 2 courses is that the 3rd course has expanded the number of students. In addition to 13 referees and assistant referees currently working at professional football tournaments, there are also 4 female referees and female assistant referees: Le Thi Ly, Tran Thi Thanh, Ha Thi Phuong, Nguyen Thi Hang Nga. What is special is that all 4 female referees and assistant referees have reached FIFA level. In addition, there are 2 non-professional male referees: referee Nghiem Ba Tri and referee Duong Duy Dung.

After the theoretical training step was completed on July 5, at the training course, the assistants will be instructed, trained, and familiarized with VAR in the LAB (Laboratory) room by the instructor, with situations ranging from simple to complex.

Mr. Hakan Anaz, a lecturer from the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) – who taught the second course, continued to teach and directly instruct the students. Besides Mr. Hakan Anaz, the training course also had lecturers from the VFF Referee Board such as Head of the Referee Board Dang Thanh Ha and Deputy Head of the Referee Board Vo Quang Vinh.

In Vietnam, VAR technology will start operating from the end of the 2023 season. To prepare a long-term plan for expanding the application of VAR technology in tournaments, referee training courses are continuously organized by VFF, VPF, and the VFF Referee Board.

V-League 2023 – 2024 will see 2 VAR vehicles installed, appearing in a maximum of 3-4 matches/round. VAR will also be on duty in the National Cup, with 5 matches, starting from the quarter-finals. In addition, in the play-off match, competing for a ticket to the V-League 2024 – 2025 season between Ha Tinh Club and PVF-CAND Club and the 2 final matches of the national first division promotion, VAR will be present.

In V-League 2024 - 2025, VPF and the VFF Referee Board are striving to achieve the goal of having as many matches as possible each round using VAR technology. In addition, the operation of VAR is also calculated to be applied in important matches in the VFF system.
