Vietnam U17 Women's Team to play friendly match with Thailand U17 Women's Team tomorrow - April 3

The international friendly football match between the Vietnam U17 Women's Team and the Thailand U17 Women's Team is organized according to the standards of an international football match, promising to bring fans great plays and beautiful goals.

The Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association, in coordination with the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) and the People's Police Sports Association, organized an international friendly football match between the Vietnam U17 Women's Team and the Thailand U17 Women's Team, at 3:00 p.m. on April 3, at the People's Police Academy (Co Nhue 2 Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi).

This is an activity to strengthen the friendly and traditional relations between the two countries, contributing to further deepening the enhanced strategic partnership, towards celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand (1976-2026).

Speaking at the press conference before the match, Head Coach of the Vietnam U17 Women's Team Okiyama Masahiko shared the loss with Thai friends in the earthquake that occurred on March 28; emphasizing that the Thai U17 Women's Team being able to come to Vietnam to play a friendly match is a commendable effort.

Talking about tomorrow's friendly match, the Japanese coach said: "I have only been in Vietnam for a month. Although I have not been with the team for long enough, through training, I have initially assessed that the players have basic techniques, are serious about their tasks and have their own strengths."

"With the goal of winning, we also want to use the match with Thailand's U17 women's team as data to analyze and come up with a reasonable training plan to prepare for the upcoming Asian U17 women's qualifying round," said coach Okiyama Masahiko.

Regarding the Thai U17 women's team, coach Thidarat Wiwasukhu said that although the team has a lot of experience, the opportunity to play a friendly match with the Vietnamese U17 women's team will help the players improve their expertise, increase understanding and especially connect sports between the two countries.

The head coach of the Thai U17 women's team shared: "This is an opportunity for us and the Vietnamese team to open up friendly matches or international tournaments in the future. We will definitely play fair-play, nobly with the spirit of good sportsmanship."

On the morning of April 2, at the VFF headquarters, a technical meeting was held to discuss professional matters before the international friendly match between the Vietnam U17 Women's Team and the Thailand U17 Women's Team.

Here, Senior Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh - Former member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, Chairman of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association, affirmed that along with expanding trade, economic , cultural and social cooperation, the sports friendly activities between the two national U17 women's teams have the meaning of deepening and contributing to further strengthening the relationship between the people of the two countries.

Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Urawadi Sriphirom also affirmed that the friendly match symbolizes the sustainability of bilateral cooperation, as well as a strong commitment to promoting people-to-people relations between Vietnam and Thailand, especially the younger generation.

On behalf of VFF, General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu expressed his gratitude to the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association for coordinating with VFF to organize this historic friendly football match, marking 50 years of strong development of Vietnam-Thailand friendship. He emphasized: “The football match is not only a connection but also demonstrates the spirit of solidarity between the two countries.”

To prepare for the friendly match, from March 28, the Vietnam U17 women's team officially gathered with 24 players at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center.

Mr. Sanan Angubolkul - President of the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association, President of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Ms. Nualphan Lamsam (Madam Pang) - President of the Football Association of Thailand will be in Hanoi to coordinate the co-organization of the match on April 3.

The Thai Embassy in Vietnam is a co-sponsor of the event.

The friendly match also received special attention, with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations... expected to attend the stadium.

After the match, the two teams will continue to participate in cultural exchange activities between the two sides.
