500 kV line circuit 3 accelerates to the finish line

Up to now, the foundation casting of all 1,177/1,177 column positions has been completed; the erection of 698/1,177 column positions has been completed, and 400/1,177 column positions are being erected; the wire pulling of 87/513 anchor intervals has been completed, and the wire pulling of 45/513 anchor intervals is in progress.

With the goal of striving to complete the project before June 30, 2024, the leaders of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) directly manage the construction work at the site, directing the Project Management Board, consultants and contractors to carry out the work according to the detailed progress milestones agreed upon by the parties.

According to the report of EVN Chairman Dang Hoang An, Thanh Hoa transformer station will be accepted on June 25, Quang Trach and Pho Noi transformer stations have been completed.

Regarding the supply of steel columns, 1,020/1,177 column positions have been handed over to date, reaching 87%. 157 column positions are being handed over, expected to be completed before June 25, 2024. The total volume of columns corresponds to 139,000 tons of steel.

Other equipment and materials of the projects have been basically completed and handed over. Some remaining insulators and accessories of the Quang Trach - Quynh Luu 500 kV Transmission Line Project are being urgently transported and handed over to the construction site by EVNNPT and the Project Management Board to be deployed for synchronous installation.

Mr. Dang Hoang An emphasized that, as the Prime Minister pointed out, this is a project for the entire people, not just the electricity sector. The project is large in volume but was completed at lightning speed. The poles are much higher and heavier than other projects, and if multiplied, the volume is equivalent to 1,000 km of other projects.

For example, he gave the example of the 700 km Quang Trach – Pleiku project that previously took 4 years to complete. Meanwhile, with this project, on January 25, 2024, when the Prime Minister held a meeting in Thanh Hoa with 9 provinces about the 500 kV circuit 3 project, the site clearance had not yet been completed.

“The electricity industry itself never thought it would be possible to complete such a project so quickly,” said Mr. An, affirming his determination to basically complete the project by the end of June and complete the acceptance procedures and inaugurate the entire project in July.

Delighted by the bustling atmosphere at the construction site, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the completion of the Thanh Hoa 500 kV Transformer Station project by June 28 and the Thanh Hoa component project - Nam Dinh 1 Thermal Power Plant before June 30, 2024.

On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the progress of the 500kV circuit 3 project, the proactive spirit, the highest determination, and the determination to complete the assigned tasks of the localities and forces participating in the project.

In the coming time, the Prime Minister requested to launch a special peak emulation period, "sprint", "lightning speed" to strive to basically complete the work of erecting poles, pulling wires, and testing by June; in July, to conduct inspections, carry out technical operation procedures, accept, restore the environment and inaugurate the project.

The Prime Minister respectfully commended and thanked the team of 15,000 cadres, engineers and workers from electricity units across the country who came to support the project implementation, working enthusiastically and selflessly in the hot weather of the Central region; thanked the people who gave up land for the project; the people, women's forces, veterans and especially the youth union who supported the construction forces and participated in all possible tasks.

At the same time, he praised EVN and related agencies and units for ensuring electricity supply in the context of no increase in power sources and sudden increase in demand; and emphasized the need to be mentally prepared to continue with the next key power grid projects.
