At the meeting, Lieutenant Colonel Vi Trung Kien - Head of the Moc Bai International Border Gate (CKQT) Border Guard Station reported to the working delegation on some characteristics of the internal and external border situation; results of the implementation of border management and protection tasks; focusing on border gate work and the fight against all types of crimes on the border - especially illegal entry and exit, drugs, smuggling, and trade fraud.
According to the leader of Moc Bai International Border Guard Station, in 2024, the number of people and vehicles entering and exiting the country through Moc Bai International Border Guard Station will reach over 2.7 million; over 15,300 people will enter and exit the border area; the Border Guard force at the border gate has promptly handled cases, of which 24 cases/24 wanted cases were detected; 9 cases/9 wanted subjects were detected; a number of subjects were detected in special projects...
In the past year, Moc Bai International Border Guard Station received 28 cases/797 subjects (illegal exit, legal exit but lost passport, wanted subjects, subjects with signs of "human trafficking" behavior...); handed over 31 cases/212 subjects. The unit presided over and coordinated the arrest and criminal prosecution of 15 cases/15 subjects, seized nearly 70kg of various types of drugs; presided over the arrest of 29 cases/29 wanted subjects, coordinated the arrest and wanted of 13 cases/13 subjects...
Moc Bai International Border Guard Station has coordinated well with relevant forces and functional agencies to arrest and handle a number of cases of illegal transportation of goods, illegal transportation of currency, and drug transportation; organized services for diplomatic delegations, and carried out border foreign affairs in general.
The leaders of Moc Bai International Border Guard Station and the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board made a number of recommendations and proposals to the working delegation on paying attention to investing in upgrading Moc Bai International Border Gate to meet the requirements of equipment and technical facilities, especially digital transformation infrastructure to serve immigration, import and export activities, and effectively combat all types of crimes.
The station leaders also reported to the working delegation about the environmental pollution caused by wastewater from industrial parks and boarding houses in Cambodia directly discharging into the environment and flowing downstream in the border area of Ben Cau district, Tay Ninh province.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, Mr. Pham Hung Thai - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation informed the working delegation about some results on the situation of demarcation and marker planting on the Vietnam - Cambodia border in Tay Ninh province; the situation of border management and protection, ensuring political security, social order and safety in the border area of the province.
The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation said that in recent years, local forces have performed well the functions of border management and protection, strengthened foreign relations with Cambodian armed forces bordering the border; maintained stability of the border and border markers, contributing to building a peaceful, friendly and developed border.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Pham Hung Thai made a number of proposals and recommendations to the working group on planning the Moc Bai border gate economic zone to develop in the direction of industry - urban - service associated with ensuring national defense and security; increasing the investment level of "border patrol road" to "border belt road serving national defense and economy" to meet the requirements of ensuring national defense and security associated with current socio-economic development in the border area.
At the same time, it is recommended that central leaders pay attention to negotiating the issue of environmental pollution treatment and the location of the Moc Bai International Border Gate to ensure that planning is not disrupted and local investment resources are not wasted.
During the working session, the survey team members requested the leadership of Moc Bai International Border Guard Station to provide additional information on crime prevention and control, coordination between the Border Guard force and relevant functional forces at the border gate; handling of cases involving foreign elements, etc. These contents were discussed and clarified by the Command Board of Moc Bai International Border Guard Station.
Concluding the working session, Lieutenant General Nguyen Hai Hung - Deputy Head of the National Defense and Security Committee, The head of the working delegation acknowledged the feedback and recommendations; requested the Moc Bai International Border Guard Station to supplement the summary data to the Provincial Border Guard Command to report to the working delegation during the working session at the Provincial People's Committee on the morning of April 11.
The working program and field survey in Tay Ninh province will provide information for the delegation, serving the review, acceptance and revision of the draft Law on State of Emergency; the situation of border demarcation and marker planting on the Vietnam-Cambodia route.
In the afternoon of the same day, the working delegation of the National Assembly's Committee for National Defense and Security, together with provincial leaders, departments, and branches, directly surveyed the polluted area and visited the area of marker 171 of Moc Bai International Border Gate; visited the Martyrs' Cemetery of Hill 82 (Tan Bien) on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
