However, this year, according to the Civil Aviation Authority, as of August 23, the occupancy rate during the September 2 holiday on domestic flights tended to increase, but most of the seats were still available.

On the outbound side, some routes have high occupancy rates of over 70%, including Hanoi - Da Lat (September 1); Hanoi - Quy Nhon, Con Dao, Dong Hoi (August 31); Ho Chi Minh City - Quy Nhon (August 31); Ho Chi Minh City - Tuy Hoa, Quy Nhon (September 1); Hanoi - Da Nang with over 60%.

On the return flight, the hottest routes currently with a booking rate of over 70% are Quy Nhon, Tuy Hoa - Ho Chi Minh City (September 3); Quy Nhon, Tuy Hoa, Con Dao, Dong Hoi - Hanoi (September 4); the Dong Hoi - Hanoi route (September 3) alone has reached over 90%.

The Civil Aviation Authority said it will continue to coordinate with airlines to monitor and evaluate market demand in order to plan to increase flights and promptly meet passenger travel needs during the holidays.

Responding to VTC News on the morning of August 27, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority Dinh Viet Thang said that this year, workers nationwide have 4 days off, but the number of passengers booking air travel during this time is low. The total number of flights that airlines plan to operate during the peak period of September 2 (from August 31 to September 5) is more than 5,300 with a total of 1.06 million seats, an increase of about 20% compared to the normal period and a slight decrease (3%) compared to the same period in 2022.

“Because the number of customers booking tickets is still very low and the seat vacancy rate is high, some airlines and routes have reduced ticket prices for the September 2 holiday. Some routes do not have much difference compared to the peak summer season, with prices up to 30% lower than in early August. Currently, all Vietnamese airlines are selling domestic air tickets according to the prescribed price range,” said Mr. Thang.
