Jobs around the world could be impacted by AI in both positive and negative ways, according to a new report from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

UNCTAD warns that AI could impact 40% of jobs worldwide in a way that increases productivity but also raises concerns about replacing humans in many jobs.
But AI also brings new opportunities. The UNCTAD report points out that the rise of AI technology, with a scale of $4.8 trillion by 2033, equivalent to the size of the German economy, is not only associated with the fear of taking away human jobs, but can also create entirely new industries and empower the workforce, if they are properly prepared in terms of capacity and skills.
Many new opportunities for people with high professional skills
According to a forecast from Bain & Company, AI is expected to create more than 2.3 million new jobs by 2027. However, this new wave also brings with it a huge shortage of talent with AI expertise. In Europe, the UK is predicted to face a 50% shortage of AI experts, while Germany could face a shortage of up to 70%.
In Vietnam, according to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hoai - Director of the AI Institute, University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, human resources in the AI field in Vietnam are still very lacking, each year, only meeting 10% of recruitment needs.

Equipping yourself with knowledge about AI is a necessary requirement to promptly grasp new career opportunities.
The significant challenge of talent shortages creates an urgent need to retrain and upskill workers, not only in the technology industry but also in related fields.
According to UNCTAD, a necessary and prerequisite condition to ensure that AI increases employment opportunities is to invest in retraining, upskilling and adapting the workforce.
Meanwhile, experts from the Open Data Science Conference (ODSC - a unit specializing in organizing conferences on data science and AI) recommend that workers need a proactive and flexible learning strategy, combining self-study, formal training and practical practice to keep up with the rapid development of AI.
MSE AI - AI intensive training solution
Faced with the great demand for AI personnel with both in-depth knowledge and practical experience and soft skills to ensure adaptation in the digital age, FSB Institute of Management & Technology (FPT Corporation) promotes training in Master of Software Engineering oriented towards Artificial Intelligence (MSE AI).
This is one of the few master's programs in information technology specifically designed for engineers, programmers and technology project managers who want to improve their knowledge, develop their thinking to build and manage technology products such as AI, Big Data, IoT.

According to the FSB representative, the MSE AI program provides a solid theoretical foundation in data processing, machine learning, IoT, MLOps, etc., while focusing on training skills in deploying large-scale technology systems. In particular, students can practice right in the program through projects related to AI and data analysis with a team of experts at FPT.
The program also focuses on developing soft skills such as critical thinking, communication, and management capacity - factors that ODSC considers essential in the AI era, when tools are increasingly complex and require human control.
Through courses in software project management and team management, MSE AI students are equipped with project management and leadership skills to be ready to take on the role of managing large-scale and complex technology projects.
MSE AI is designed with flexible study time in the evening or on weekends, suitable for working people with busy schedules. In addition to professional training, the program also organizes practical learning activities, seminars with experts, and teambuilding.
Currently, MSE AI is recruiting in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Can Tho with "AI Leader" scholarships of up to 30% of tuition fees for excellent candidates.
