Gasoline prices continue to decrease, some types fall below 19,000 VND/liter

The Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance has just adjusted the retail price of gasoline and oil in the adjustment period today (April 17). The application time is from 3:00 p.m. on April 17, 2025.

Today's gasoline prices, from 3:00 p.m. on April 17, 2025, E5 RON 92 gasoline decreased by 384 VND/liter, RON 95 gasoline decreased by 351 VND/liter; oil prices also decreased.

Specifically, the price of E5 RON 92 gasoline decreased by VND384/liter, down to VND18,498/liter; RON 95 gasoline decreased by VND351/liter, down to VND18,856/liter.

The price of 0.05S diesel decreased by VND206/liter to VND17,037/liter; kerosene decreased by VND229/liter to VND17,184/liter; the price of 180CST 3.5S mazut increased by VND58/kg to VND15,960/kg.

In this management period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance did not set aside or use the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund for E5 RON 92 gasoline, RON 95 gasoline, diesel oil, kerosene, and mazut oil.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the average price of finished petroleum products in the world between the price adjustment period on April 10, 2025 and the adjustment period on April 17, 2025 is: 72.216 USD/barrel of RON 92 gasoline used to blend E5 RON 92 gasoline (down 1.968 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 2.65%); 73.670 USD/barrel of RON 95 gasoline (down 1.664 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 2.21%); 78.618 USD/barrel of kerosene (down 1.102 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 1.38%); 78.520 USD/barrel of 0.05S diesel oil (down 0.964 USD/barrel, equivalent to a decrease of 1.21%); 422,548 USD/ton of 180CST 3.5S fuel oil (up 3,020 USD/ton, equivalent to an increase of 0.72%).

According to a survey at 9:55 a.m. on April 17 (Vietnam time), WTI oil price increased by 0.68 USD/barrel (up 1.09%), to 63.15 USD/barrel. Brent oil price increased by 0.43 USD/barrel (up 0.65%), to 66.28 USD/barrel.

Oil prices rose on Thursday on the back of tighter supply prospects, after Washington imposed new sanctions to curb Iran’s oil sales, and pledges by some OPEC producers to cut output further to offset overproduction.

OPEC said on Wednesday it had received updated plans from Iraq, Kazakhstan and several other countries on production cuts to compensate for overshooting quotas.

A large drop in U.S. gasoline and distillate inventories and a smaller-than-expected weekly increase in crude oil inventories also boosted the market, said Michael McCarthy, CEO of online investment platform Moomoo.

The World Trade Organization said it expected merchandise trade to shrink by 0.2% this year, down from its October forecast of 3.0% growth.

Previously, in the April 10 adjustment period of the Ministry of Finance - Ministry of Industry and Trade, gasoline prices decreased sharply, specifically E5 RON 92 gasoline decreased by VND 1,491/liter, not higher than VND 18,882/liter. RON 95 gasoline price decreased by VND 1,712/liter, not higher than VND 19,207/liter.

Diesel prices also decreased by VND1,235/liter, not higher than VND17,243/liter. Kerosene prices decreased by VND1,322/liter, down to VND17,413/liter and fuel oil prices decreased by VND1,124/kg, not higher than VND15,902/kg.

During this operating period, the management agency continues not to set aside or use the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund for any products.

Since the beginning of 2025, domestic gasoline prices have undergone 14 adjustment sessions, including 9 decrease sessions, 6 increase sessions and 1 opposite session.
