On April 17, the State Bank of Vietnam Region 2 held a meeting with more than 50 retired officials and former leaders of the State Bank of Vietnam across the country in Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate the 50th anniversary of National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Reporting to former leaders and officers of the State Bank of Vietnam through the periods, Mr. Vo Minh Tuan - Director of the State Bank of Vietnam Region 2 thanked the previous generations for creating the foundation for the next generation of the banking sector to inherit and develop banking activities to contribute to socio-economic development. Mr. Tuan said that the banking sector has reorganized the system from 63 branches of the State Bank of Vietnam in provinces and cities into 15 regions since March 2025, continuing to manage currency and banking and ensuring all activities and transactions run smoothly.
After more than a month of operating under the new model, all management activities and implementation of monetary and banking policies to credit institutions in the area have not been interrupted, and have not affected monetary transactions of people, businesses and economic organizations. Public services provided by the Regional State Bank to people and businesses in the area have not been affected by the streamlining of the apparatus.
Mr. Nguyen Van Giau, former Governor of the State Bank, commented that monetary policies over the years have contributed significantly to economic development, especially after the country opened up and entered the integration period. |
Speaking at the meeting with retired officials who were former leaders and employees of the State Bank system, Mr. Nguyen Van Giau, former Governor of the State Bank, reviewed the historical milestones of banking officials who participated in the war to defend the country with the legendary monetary path. Banking officials also participated as experts to support friendly countries in the Indochina region; the banking system has been actively contributing to the process of innovation and integration of the economy, bringing the country to development...
Although the officials and former leaders of the State Bank have retired, they still closely monitor the banking sector. After merging the branches of the State Bank in provinces and cities, the retired bank officials hope to continue connecting officials with the new units, especially in the coming time when the provinces and cities will streamline their apparatus from 63 provinces and cities to 34 provinces and cities.
“Our system, after being reorganized and streamlined, will operate safely and effectively, continuing to contribute to the economy,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Giau, adding that each retired bank officer will continue to contribute to the banking industry with his or her heart and strength in the spirit of combining the inherent values of banking officers with rapidly changing development trends.
