This afternoon, June 27, information from the People's Committee of Quang Tri province said that the locality has just sent a document to the Department of Finance and the Quang Tri Maritime Port Authority agreeing to the plan to destroy the ship that drifted ashore in Gio Hai commune, Gio Linh district as proposed by the units.

Previously, in March 2024, after discovering an unmanned wooden boat drifting ashore in Gio Hai commune, units including the Maritime Port Authority and the Cua Viet Port Border Guard Station (Quang Tri Border Guard) inspected and assessed the situation.
Specifically, the ship is 11 meters long, 3 meters wide, has no registration number, and is painted an old brown color; there is no driver, no engine, no steering system, and no fuel; the stern is rotten and damaged; there is no information about its origin, history, or owner.
Based on the inspection results, the actual status of the ship was completely damaged, no longer usable, and agreed on a report plan, proposing that the Provincial People's Committee allow destruction.

Regarding the strange ship drifting ashore in Quang Tri, on October 26, 2021, on the coast of Trieu Van commune, Trieu Phong district, a wooden ship appeared, 18 m long, 4 m wide, about 2.5 m high, on the bow of the ship were written 3 foreign words and the number 0148; the ship had an engine but was damaged and had no driver.
After the authorities completed the procedures and proposed a solution, in November 2023, the Provincial People's Committee approved the auction plan for the above ship with a starting price of 20 million VND. However, no one participated in the auction. After that, the second auction was held and the value was reduced by 10%, but there were still no bidders.
