Impressive and positive socio-economic development
In recent times, Dong Thap has achieved many positive and impressive results in socio-economic development. The scale of the economy has been increasingly expanded and reached over 110,800 billion VND. Society continues to be maintained stable, people's lives are increasingly improved, many new production models have been formed, continuing to create changes in agricultural economic development, gradually increasing people's income. 19/22 targets were achieved and 7/22 targets exceeded the plan, GRDP per capita is estimated at 69.31 million VND (equivalent to 2,912 USD ) ; state budget revenue in the area is estimated at 8,151 billion VND; 115 communes have met new rural standards.
The province's economic sectors continue to grow well. The industrial production value is estimated at 70,271 billion VND, up 6.16% over the same period in 2022, reaching 97.04% of the plan; The production value of the agricultural - forestry - fishery sector is estimated at 49,478 billion VND (2010 comparable prices), up 4.56% over 2022 (equivalent to an increase of 2,178 billion VND), equal to 100.7% of the annual plan; total retail sales of goods and services reached 63,000 billion VND, up 13.14%.

The tourism industry has grown positively, with an estimated 4 million visitors in 2023, up 13.6% compared to 2022, equal to 105.26% of the plan, with total tourism revenue estimated at VND 1,900 billion, up 14.15% compared to 2022, reaching 105.55% of the plan.
In the Mekong Delta region, Dong Thap ranks third in rice output (over 3 million tons per year); first in mango growing area (about 14,000 hectares, output 137,000 tons); first in tra fish output (over 500,000 tons, exported to 134 countries, turnover about 900 million USD), along with effective product chains (tra fish, ornamental flowers, lotus, etc.). Dong Thap ranks third in the country in OCOP products with 357 products. There are 109 communes meeting new rural standards, accounting for 94.78% of the total number of communes.
Dong Thap has completed the draft Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, and is carrying out procedures for approval. The total social investment capital reached about 11,000 billion VND, an increase of 12%, of which the State budget capital increased sharply (33.7%). Disbursement of public investment capital in 7 months reached 50.38%; the progress of key national projects was promoted; the Cao Lanh - An Huu Expressway project, component 1, was started and urgently implemented (over 95.5% of the land was handed over); the project to upgrade National Highway 30, Cao Lanh - Hong Ngu section, phase 3, was deployed...

The province promotes administrative procedure reform, providing online public services at levels 3 and 4 (reaching 73.92%); promotes digital transformation and smart management; improves provincial competitiveness (PCI in 2022 ranked 5/63 provinces and cities). Dong Thap strengthens activities to accompany businesses, remove difficulties and obstacles for production and business with many diverse models; deploys the construction of a Startup and Innovation Space. As of November 27, 2023, 11 projects have been approved in principle for investment, with a total investment capital of VND 6,341 billion, reaching 35.4% of the plan (compared to the same period in 2022, attracting 18 projects, total registered investment capital of VND 3,314 billion), of which there are 03 FDI projects, total investment capital of about VND 437 billion.
Dong Thap has actively implemented Resolution 13-NQ/TW in 2022 of the Politburo on socio-economic development directions and ensuring national defense and security in the Mekong Delta region, Resolution 19-NQ/TW in 2022 on agriculture, farmers, and rural areas, actively producing food, contributing to ensuring the country's food security.
With many distinct potentials, outstanding opportunities, competitive advantages, new foundations and motivations, Dong Thap increasingly affirms its important role and position, becoming the center of economic exchange between the Mekong Delta and the Mekong Sub-region countries, the center of eco-tourism of the Mekong Delta and the whole country; continuing to affirm its position as a center of sustainable agriculture, leading the country in a number of advantageous agricultural fields such as aquaculture, fruits, rice, etc.; becoming one of the livable and happy provinces with criteria towards balance, harmony and sustainability.

Promote foreign affairs
Since the 31st Diplomatic Conference and the 20th Diplomatic Conference in December 2021, Dong Thap has continued to focus on promoting foreign affairs, achieving many positive results, contributing to creating a favorable environment for socio-economic development and international integration. The province continues to strengthen traditional cooperative relations with PreyVeng, Pursat, Banteay Meanchey provinces (Cambodia); Salavan, Champasak provinces (Laos); Cherwon district, Gangwon province (Korea). In 2023, the province proactively negotiated and signed cooperation with Yeoncheon district, Gyeonggi province, Korea.
In addition, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and foreign diplomatic missions in Vietnam, the province will host the Trade and Investment Cooperation Conference between India and Dong Thap province; Trade and Investment Cooperation Conference between Dong Thap and Japanese enterprises (November 2023); the first Lotus Land Festival - Journey of Accompanying Development; Cambodian Cultural Week in Dong Thap province...

Through events, Dong Thap promotes and introduces its potential, local image, people, environment and investment cooperation opportunities in Dong Thap, thereby expanding the space for trade and investment cooperation of Dong Thap's business community with foreign partners in the region and internationally.
To mark a year full of outstanding events, Dong Thap province will organize the first Sa Dec Flower - Ornamental Festival in 2023 from December 30, 2023 to January 5, 2024. In addition to displaying 206,000 pots of ornamental flowers with 29 different species as the "main characters", the Festival also brings many cultural, culinary, and experiential tourism spaces... attracting tourists and investors to learn about the land and flowers in the capital of the pink lotus land of Dong Thap.
