Specialist Doctor I Ho Thi Hoa, Deputy Head of the Department of Infectious Disease Prevention, Provincial Center for Disease Control, said that at the end of the campaign, the whole province had more than 112,300 children aged 1-10 years old vaccinated against measles, reaching a rate of 97.5%. In addition, more than 6,800 children aged 6 months to under 9 months were vaccinated, reaching a rate of 81.2%.
According to Dr. Hoa, although the campaign has ended, health stations will continue to vaccinate children of the right age in the next few days. Therefore, parents with children of the right age who have not been vaccinated against measles or have not received two doses of the vaccine should take their children to health stations for instructions on how to vaccinate them against measles.
Regarding the prevention and control of measles, on April 1, the Department of Health issued a document requesting affiliated units and hospitals in the province to strengthen the work of triage, admission, treatment and control of measles infection in medical examination and treatment facilities.
In particular, units must develop, consolidate, review, and update plans for measles prevention and control at medical examination and treatment facilities. Prepare plans for admission, emergency care, isolation, and treatment in the event of an increase in suspected measles cases, measles patients coming to the clinic and being hospitalized, and an increase in severe and critical cases.
For severe measles cases requiring intensive care, hospitals/medical centers arrange treatment areas in intensive care units/departments, or intensive care units/beds in infectious disease departments. Treatment flow must ensure isolation and infection control to prevent cross-infection.
