The 13th World Invention Creativity Olympic (WICO) recently took place at Seoul National University of Education (Korea). This is a prestigious competition organized annually by the Korean University Invention Association and sponsored by the Korean National Assembly.
The purpose of the competition is to create opportunities for students, young investors to discuss and introduce their country's advances in science, technology and engineering. The inventions and innovations brought to the competition are all creative, practical and highly applicable.
WICO 13 in Korea had the participation of about 2,000 students from 140 competing teams from 25 countries with the most developed education systems in the world (Australia, USA, Canada, Korea, Germany, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia...)
At this Contest, the "Peanut Shell" team - a group of students passionate about scientific research from Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School (Hanoi National University of Education) including: Nguyen Tran Nam Khanh, class 12D3; Do Phuong Linh, class 12D1; Nguyen Tuan Khoi, class 12D1; Tan Thien Kim, class 11A4 and Nguyen Cao Duc Minh, class 12A6, Foreign Language Specialized High School (University of Foreign Languages - Vietnam National University, Hanoi) participated in the contest with the topic "Research on modifying peanut shells as materials to treat heavy metals causing pollution".
With a passion for scientific research, a serious working spirit and a thorough and methodical preparation process, the topic of the "Peanut Shell" team was highly appreciated by the Jury for its ideas, meaning and value in terms of science, society and environment.
In the end, the above topic excellently won the Gold Medal, and was also awarded the "Special prize" and the Grand prize.
