Opening a series of key STEAM educational activities in 2025, in a vibrant, creative and inspiring atmosphere, on April 13, Thai Nguyen University of Information and Communications Technology - ICTU (under Thai Nguyen University) organized "STEAM Festival 2025" for high school students in Thai Nguyen province.
As one of the three largest universities specializing in information technology and communication in Vietnam, Thai Nguyen University of Information Technology and Communication (with the largest student population in this field, multi-disciplinary and multi-field training on digital platforms) was assigned by Thai Nguyen province to host the "STEAM Festival 2025" for high school students, so it has a great impact throughout the province.
With the motto of applied training, the philosophy of "Make things-Make in Thai Nguyen-Talking goes hand in hand with doing", in recent times, Thai Nguyen University of Information Technology and Communications has constantly strived to teach students to create practical products right in the learning process, most notably the smart learning system iBLS integrated with AI has just won two Sao Khue 2025 awards (to be awarded on April 19); the 3D movie "Cricket - Adventure to the swampy village" will be premiered nationwide on May 30; the blockchain system to authenticate diplomas, NFT identification to serve tourism in Thai Nguyen province.
At the festival, teachers and students directly experienced homemade electric cars and the virtual STEM experience system; attended seminars and shared information about global STEAM trends with speakers from experts and the national STEAM community; and exchanged, inspired and shared experiences in building a sustainable STEAM community between schools and generations of students.
Within the framework of the festival, Thai Nguyen province launched 3 major STEM competitions, including: Robot: Road to Tan Cuong-Thai Nguyen; 3D design of "Green agricultural tools" - Associated with sustainable agricultural development and Aimazing - Application of artificial intelligence to promote Thai Nguyen tourism for high school students in the whole province with a total prize value of up to nearly 300 million VND, including 2 special prizes worth 100 million and 30 million VND for the Aimazing competition. With these competitions, Thai Nguyen province encourages high school students to have the mindset of making products, starting from small things, they can completely receive great results.

Through the festival, 3 awards and upcoming activities in the province, schools and students will not only have the opportunity to learn and explore, but also get hands-on experience with technology, have their passions awakened and sow the seeds for a creative journey in the future, strongly promoting STEM education in the area.
According to comrade Nguyen Huy Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province, implementing STEAM education, Thai Nguyen province aims to train human resources to serve 3 strategic industrial fields: computer graphics, digital arts; industrial automation and artificial intelligence.
To realize this goal, on February 18, 2025, the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province issued Plan No. 31/KH-UBND to deploy STEM education in general schools in the province in 2025, determining that in 2025, the Thai Nguyen Maker community will be formed with 100 core members to spread STEAM/STEM education throughout the province.
From 2025 (annually), Thai Nguyen province will organize "Thai Nguyen Open STEAM/STEM Festival", launching 3 competitions respectively: 3D Design Challenge, Robotics Challenge and AI Challenge to specify 3 strategic technology fields that Thai Nguyen has identified to focus on research and development: computer graphics, digital art; industrial automation and artificial intelligence.
Plan No. 31/KH-UBND of the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province and the province's activities in 2025 aim to concretize Resolution 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation in the field of education and training to raise awareness for party committees at all levels, authorities, cadres, party members, especially for managers and teachers in the education sector about the position, role and significance of STEM education in general schools.
By the end of 2025, 100% of high schools in Thai Nguyen province will implement STEM education, in which each school will develop and implement at least 1 STEM lesson/subject (subject group)/grade during the school year, 10% of high schools will organize STEM Festival, 70% of high schools will have projects participating in the Provincial Science and Technology Research Competition; strive to have at least 1 project winning a prize in the National Science and Technology Research Competition.
With the issuance of Plan No. 31/KH-UBND, Thai Nguyen province determined to develop STEM education in general schools in the province to improve the quality of teaching and learning, encourage creative thinking, develop problem-solving skills and apply science into practice for general students; take advantage of technological advances to promote innovation in teaching and learning, improve the quality and access to education, and the effectiveness of educational management; build an open and adaptive education on a digital platform, contributing to the development of digital government, digital economy and digital society.
By the end of 2025, 100% of high schools in Thai Nguyen province will implement STEM education, in which each school will develop and implement at least 1 STEM lesson/subject (subject group)/grade during the school year, 10% of high schools will organize STEM Festival, 70% of high schools will have projects participating in the Provincial Science and Technology Research Competition; strive to have at least 1 project winning a prize in the National Science and Technology Research Competition.
100% of teachers of STEM-related subjects (high school level: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Technology; middle school level: Math, Natural Sciences, Technology, Informatics; primary school level: Math, Natural and Social Sciences, Science, Informatics) are trained and have the capacity to teach and organize STEM educational activities.
Build STEM education practice rooms at 9 pilot high schools, organize science and technology research competitions at district and provincial levels; develop plans and prepare conditions to organize the provincial Robocon Competition in the following years.
The People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province requested to strengthen propaganda work, raise awareness of educational management agencies at all levels, general schools, parents, students and the community about the meaning and importance of STEM education for fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training in general, and innovation of general education in particular. Promote the organization of propaganda activities on STEM education for high school students through STEM festivals; exchange activities of educational management staff, teachers, students with universities, research institutes, businesses, scientists, managers, and entrepreneurs.
High schools in the province develop educational plans for selected subjects or groups of subjects to organize STEM lessons suitable for students' psychology and age; teachers design STEM lessons to implement in the teaching process of subjects or groups of subjects according to the integrated intra-subject or interdisciplinary approach.
Students implementing STEM lessons are proactive in studying textbooks and learning materials to receive and apply knowledge through activities: choosing solutions to solve problems; practicing design, manufacturing, testing designs; sharing, discussing, perfecting or adjusting designs under the guidance of teachers and organizing STEM experiential activities to create interest and motivation for students to learn.
