BHG - Lung Chang is a highland village in Then Phang commune (Xin Man). Despite many difficulties, in recent years, with the attention of local authorities and the efforts of the people, the rural appearance here has changed a lot, especially in terms of infrastructure and daily life.
Income is one of the important criteria, playing the role of "lever", creating motivation to complete the targets and criteria for building New Rural Areas (NTM). However, up to now, the income criterion is considered one of the most difficult criteria to implement in the National Criteria for building New Rural Areas. Although there are still many difficulties, in recent years, with the connection with corporations and enterprises of the local government, along with promoting propaganda work, many workers have been attracted to work outside the province, and the lives of households have been significantly improved. According to the villagers, most of the workers in the village work for companies and enterprises in the provinces of Bac Ninh, Hanoi, Dong Nai, etc. Therefore, they save and have funds to build houses. At the beginning of this year alone, the whole village had nearly 30 new houses started to be built, of which more than a dozen were supported by the temporary housing elimination program. The houses built of solid bricks are gradually being completed, creating a change for the countryside.

In addition to housing, the transportation system has also been improved. The road leading to the village has been invested in concrete, although it has not been completed due to lack of capital, it has created favorable conditions for travel, transporting construction materials and economic development. Mr. Xin Van Sinh, a villager, said: The main road of the village has been concreted and leads to residential areas. For the road connecting the village to the main road, the state supports cement and people contribute labor days to pour concrete in 2024.
Lung Chang village has 89 households, mainly Mong ethnic people. The village is located about 5 km from the commune center, with valley terrain surrounded by high mountains. This is both a challenge and an advantage to help the village develop agriculture, especially rice and fruit trees. In particular, Lung Chang village is famous for Gia Dui rice, a typical agricultural product of Xin Man district. With an area of about 40 hectares, Gia Dui rice not only provides food but is also a commodity that brings income to the people. In addition, people actively grow more fruit trees such as blood plums and pears, and develop vegetable gardens to serve their daily lives.
Not only focusing on economic development, villagers also pay attention to environmental sanitation. Households regularly sweep village roads and alleys and move barns away from residential areas. Thanks to that, environmental protection awareness is raised, village roads and alleys become clean, beautiful, airy, contributing to building a civilized lifestyle. Along with that, backward customs and practices in funerals and weddings are gradually eliminated.
Mr. Sung Van Thang, Head of Lung Chang Village, shared: Thanks to the propaganda and raised awareness, most people of working age go to work far away, bringing income to their families. This helps the village have more newly built houses, demonstrating the determination of the people in building new rural areas and improving the quality of life.
In addition, to support poor households in building houses, in early 2025, Xin Man district coordinated with the provincial police to implement a program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Lung Chang. Accordingly, poor households in the village were supported with cement and labor days to build solid houses. This is not only a motivation to help people escape poverty but also demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and mutual support, towards the goal of "leaving no one behind". With positive changes in infrastructure, economy and social life, Lung Chang is changing every day.
