Although the product consumption market has shown signs of recovery, industrial production enterprises in the province still face difficulties due to lack of raw materials and high production costs. Along with flexible business plans and strategies, many enterprises have invested more in technology, researched new products, and reduced costs to maintain stable operations and create jobs for workers.

Faced with the risk of some traditional products being less competitive in the market, Lam Son Sugarcane Joint Stock Company (Lasuco) has recently launched many typical beverage brands such as canned fresh sugarcane juice (fresh red ginseng sugarcane, fresh kumquat sugarcane, fresh pineapple sugarcane, fresh peach sugarcane, fresh orange and lemongrass sugarcane) and products such as brown rice milk, red bean milk, fruit milk... With all-natural criteria, Lasuco has exported to over 30 countries and territories; and is present in most modern supermarket chains nationwide such as Big C, VinMart, MegaMart, Co.opmart...
According to Lasuco representative, the company is continuing to research and has a roadmap to improve products towards deeply processed agricultural products to conquer the world market, including many demanding countries such as the US, EU, Japan; at the same time, dominate the domestic consumption market which is heavily dependent on imported drinks of the same type at high prices.
In the first months of 2024, the wood industry continued to face difficulties due to a shrinking consumer market and tightening trade defense policies to protect domestically produced products and goods. To boost consumption, many units and enterprises focused on diversifying products, investing in technology to shift production to new items; at the same time, reducing operating costs, reducing prices to exploit more orders from new markets, signing small orders to maintain stable production.
At Hop Phat Forestry Processing Cooperative (Quan Hoa), the company used to produce about 600 tons of paper and votive paper from bamboo each year for export to the Taiwanese market (China). Due to a sharp decrease in product prices, from 2023 to now, the cooperative has only been able to consume 50% of the previous output. Cooperative Director Nguyen Duy Chinh said: "From the end of 2023 to now, while raw material prices and labor days have increased, product prices have decreased due to oversupply or reduced consumption. We are currently diversifying our orders; at the same time, we have applied additional product recovery and filtration technology to reduce costs and stabilize business operations."
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, in addition to traditional products such as beer, sugar, and automobiles, the difficulties of wood and seafood enterprises are likely to continue throughout 2024. However, the industrial product market in 2024 has recorded positive signals from key manufacturing industries such as petrochemical refining, cement, electricity, and garments, etc. as a driving force for growth. Along with that, many enterprises and cooperatives have been making efforts to overcome difficulties by carefully investigating the tastes and needs of consumers, thereby introducing suitable products, applying new business models, or being ready to take on small orders, and exploiting a variety of raw materials in the province and domestically to serve production.
With the efforts of enterprises, sectors and localities, in the first 6 months of 2024, the industrial production index of Thanh Hoa province increased by 15.8% over the same period; the export value of goods is estimated at nearly 2.9 billion USD, an increase of 21.8% over the same period in 2023.
However, according to the assessment of the Department of Industry and Trade, the province's enterprises are mainly small and medium-sized, limited in capital, human resources, and management skills, so their competitiveness is still low; the number of new industrial products is still limited, especially lacking products with high science and technology content and added value.
The Department of Industry and Trade is supporting existing industrial production enterprises to focus on maximum production capacity on the basis of ensuring the consumption market; encouraging production establishments with good consumption markets to increase capacity and expand production; continuing to support and encourage investors who are investing in the construction of production establishments, speeding up the construction investment progress, striving to put investment projects into operation on schedule during the year, contributing to the overall output and value of industrial products of the province.
