Closing the first official competition day of the 32nd SEA Games, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation won 6 Gold medals, 10 Silver medals and 16 Bronze medals, ranking 5th in the medal tally.

Closing the first official competition day at SEA Games 32, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation won a total of 6 Gold medals.
The Karate team competed impressively, bringing home two gold medals in the men's team Kata and women's team Kata events.
Le Hong Phuc, Pham Minh Duc and Giang Viet Anh were the Gold medalists in the men's team kata, while the women's category was won by Nguyen Thi Phuong, Luu Thi Thu Uyen and Nguyen Ngoc Tram.
Le Thi Hien "opened the Gold" for Vovinam after excellently defeating Lao opponent Alisa Panyasyli 7-0 in the final.
The Swimming team also won a Gold medal thanks to Tran Hung Nguyen in the men's 200m medley.
Meanwhile, “Walking Queen” Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuc continued to compete impressively to once again win the Gold medal in the women’s 20km walk. This is Thanh Phuc’s 5th Gold medal in 6 times participating in the SEA Games.
Also on May 6, the couple Pham Thanh Phuong Thao-Ton Nu Hong An were officially awarded the Gold medal in Ouk Chaktrang.

In addition to the Gold medals, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation also won 10 Silver medals and 16 Bronze medals.
With this achievement, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation ranked 5th in the medal tally of the 32nd SEA Games.
Meanwhile, the host sports delegation of Cambodia continued to compete successfully with 12 more gold medals on May 6.
Thus, the Cambodian Sports Delegation has a total of 17 Gold medals, 11 Silver medals and 11 Bronze medals, to firmly stand at the top of the overall rankings.
The Indonesian Sports Delegation rose strongly to rank 2nd in the overall rankings with 8 Gold medals, 7 Silver medals and 11 Bronze medals. The next two positions are Thailand (7, 10, 14), Philippines (7, 8, 13).
Singapore Sports Delegation ranked 6th (5 Gold medals, 2 Silver medals and 3 Bronze medals), followed by Myanmar (3, 1, 10), Laos (2, 2, 6), Malaysia (1, 2, 7).
The two Sports Delegations of Brunei and Timor Leste ranked at the bottom of the overall rankings with only 1 Bronze medal each.
SEA Games 32 medal tally ends on May 6.
