In the draft circular amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Regulations on university and college admissions for preschool education that the Ministry of Education and Training is seeking opinions on, the subject combination for admission is one of the new contents.
Accordingly, for the admission method based on academic results and exam results for each subject, the draft stipulates that the subject combination used for admission includes at least 3 subjects. These 3 subjects must be suitable to the characteristics and requirements of the training program, including math or literature with an assessment weight of at least 1/3 of the total score. A training program, major, or group of majors can use several subject combinations at the same time for admission, in which case the common number of subjects of the combinations must have an assessment weight of at least 50% of the total score.
Based on the draft, universities have developed orientations for subject combinations for university entrance exams in 2025.
