Going on a trip, the couple also 'prepared' raincoats, helmets with visors, tire pumps, medicines... just in case.
Ta Lam Quoc Nam and his wife chose to travel by scooter through 10 provinces and cities in Vietnam, from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue, to explore the landscape and local culture. The 6-day journey at the end of March, with a cost of less than 7 million VND, brought unique experiences and rich cuisine.
Traveling by scooter through 10 provinces and cities
Instead of choosing to go abroad or go on vacation, the young couple decided to travel nearly 1/3 of the length of Vietnam's coastline by scooter, with the desire to see the country's mountains, rivers, seas and landscapes more clearly.
The journey of Mr. Nam and his wife lasted 6 days, starting from Ho Chi Minh City through the provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, Quang Ngai, Quang Nam, Da Nang and the final destination was Hue city. After that, they returned by bus, sending their scooter along, and arrived in Ho Chi Minh City in just 18 hours.
Mr. Ta Lam Quoc Nam said he has been to the beach many times in the provinces, but this trip was very special to him.
"I was able to go on this trip with my wife on the occasion of our first wedding anniversary, so I felt very happy. In addition, when traveling along the coast, I realized that the scenery and culture of each place are slightly different.
The sea space is the same, but the closer we get to Hue, the clearer the sea is, the cooler the air is. In Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan), we get to see people fishing. In Vinh Hy Bay (Ninh Thuan), we get to see how they do tourism. Or in Hoi An (Quang Nam), we are delighted to see foreign visitors cycling through the fields and walking along the ancient space of the old town.
Especially in Mui Yen (Phu Yen), we enjoyed super cheap local cuisine. With only 10,000 - 15,000 VND, we had a delicious dish. Especially, when we came to Hue city on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of liberation, we were given free tickets to visit the famous places.
Each province has its own beauty in both space and time, and only when traveling by motorbike, wandering through every corner can you have this unique experience" - Mr. Quoc Nam happily said.
Going on a backpacking trip, the couple also prepared raincoats, helmets with visors, tire pumps, and medicines… just in case. However, Nam said that backpacking at this time is very favorable because the weather is nice and the sea is calm.

Total cost less than 7 million VND
Even though they traveled for many days, the total cost the couple spent was only 6.8 million VND for food, accommodation, transportation, parking and gifts.
Mr. Nam shared: "To avoid being ripped off, my wife and I walk around and see which restaurants are frequented by locals. In addition, we can also refer to reviews of places to eat and stay through Google Maps.
As for accommodation, the first two days we stopped by to ask about prices and look at rooms to choose a place. For the following days, we decided to stay in the city center for convenience, so we booked a room on Agoda, which was a few tens to a few hundred thousand dong cheaper."
What makes the couple nostalgic is that the cuisine in the provinces is very different, the prices are affordable and the food is delicious.
"We ate rice noodles in Phan Thiet; banh can and steamed squid in Vinh Hy; banh canh he and nem nuong in Mui Yen; cao lau, grilled meat and banh dap in Hoi An; bun bo, banh khoai, mussels with rice paper and che heo quay in Hue... Each dish has its own special features. Only when eating in these places can we feel the delicious taste like that" - said Mr. Nam.
