According to the 2023 university admission plan announced by Hanoi University of Science and Technology today, June 1, this year Hanoi University of Science and Technology has a total enrollment target of 7,985 students for the regular university program, of which about 15% of the target is reserved for talent selection, about 85 - 90% is selected based on exam scores (high school graduation and thinking assessment). The new point compared to last year is that this year Hanoi University of Science and Technology has removed the regulation on academic records for candidates applying for admission based on exam scores, and recruited 3 new majors.

3 new admission codes include: microelectronics and nanotechnology (MS2), polymer and composite materials technology (MS3), advanced program in bioengineering (taught in English, admission code is BF-E19).
In particular, there is an adjusted content in the 2023 enrollment plan (compared to 2022) that is not to apply the academic record condition for candidates applying for admission based on exam scores (high school graduation and thinking assessment). However, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will announce the score threshold to receive application documents after the high school graduation exam and thinking assessment results are available.
In the enrollment plan, Hanoi University of Science and Technology also noted that for candidates registering for the English-taught program, in addition to the necessary conditions (according to the enrollment methods), candidates need to have one of the following English proficiency requirements: VSTEP English certificate level B1 or higher, IELTS (academic) 5.0 or higher or equivalent; or the 2023 high school graduation exam score in English meeting the requirements of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (to be announced later).
In 2023, all majors/programs will use the admission method based on high school graduation exam scores. For the English language major, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will not apply the admission method based on thinking assessment test scores.
Regarding the thinking assessment exam, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will organize the exam in 3 rounds on June 10, June 17 and July 8. It will be held at 9 exam clusters: Hanoi (at 10 universities and academies), Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Thanh Hoa, Vinh, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Da Nang.
By the end of May, the total number of candidates registered for the thinking assessment test was 10,211 (with 19,225 tests). To date, 32 universities have said they will use the results of this thinking assessment test for admission.
