The land of the Hung Kings is an ancient land, the cradle of Lac Viet culture. Through thousands of years of history, Phu Tho today is considered a "museum" of Vietnamese national culture with strong cultural imprints, a rich and diverse system of tangible and intangible cultural heritages associated with the Hung King era.
At the end of the year, thousands of Vietnamese people sincerely go to the temple, burn incense to respectfully pay tribute to the Hung Kings and their ancestors for their contributions to building and defending the country, and pray for luck, health, family harmony, and happiness to welcome the new year of At Ty 2025.
It has become a tradition that at the end of each year, preparing to celebrate the Lunar New Year, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang in Phuc Tho district, Hanoi, and her family sincerely return to Hung Temple, go to the pagoda, and pray for a lucky new year. Ms. Hang shared: "No matter where we work, my family always turns to our ancestors. The old year is about to pass, welcoming the new year, my family can return together to light incense sticks to express gratitude, thank the National Ancestor for the past year of peace, luck and pray for many good things in the new year...".
In recent years, Phu Tho province has paid special attention to the conservation of cultural heritage associated with sustainable socio-economic development. Along with the system of historical and cultural relics, traditional festivals and unique national intangible cultural heritages, Phu Tho is honored to possess two intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO as cultural heritages of humanity - Hung King worship and Phu Tho Xoan singing, which are the pride and unique identity of the Vietnamese people to international friends.
Up to now, Hung Temple and cultural heritages are being effectively protected by Phu Tho province, bringing vitality and strong spread in contemporary social life. The province is also very interested in exploiting cultural heritage values to develop tourism, along with the Hung King worship belief, with the focus being the Hung King's death anniversary - Hung Temple Festival every year, the programs "Xoan singing in ancient villages", "returning to the source tourism" ... increasingly attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists to visit, practice the belief and enjoy Xoan singing; each year the province welcomes about 6 - 7 million visitors, tourism revenue has achieved a fairly high growth rate, creating jobs for more than 12,000 workers ... Cultural heritages are becoming rich cultural tourism products, contributing to promoting sustainable development of Phu Tho tourism. From January 1 to January 24, 2025 alone, there were more than 10,000 pilgrims coming to Den Hung, including foreign tourists.
According to comrade Pham Thanh Long - Deputy Director of Hung Temple Historical Relic Site, in the period of 2021 - 2024, the province has mobilized over 450 billion VND to implement the restoration and embellishment of relics and works at the Relic Site, aiming to build the Hung Temple Special National Relic Site worthy of its status as a special national relic, a cultural and spiritual center for worshiping the ancestors of the nation, and a tourist destination. From the capital, dozens of works have been invested in and put into operation to serve the people, typically the projects: Completing the restoration and embellishment of the infrastructure and landscape of the Hung Temple Historical Relic Site Festival Center; installing a landscape lighting system for the area around Mai An Tiem Lake; restoring and embellishing the relief "Uncle Ho talking to officers and soldiers of the Vanguard Army Corps" at the Den Gieng 5-way intersection...
In the warm spring weather, groups of descendants make pilgrimages to the Hung Temple Historical Relic Site, the center of worship for the first Hung Kings of the Vietnamese people, to return to the roots of the nation, to be more proud of the dragon-fairy lineage flowing in the veins of every Vietnamese citizen.
People and pilgrims come to Hung Temple to burn incense and respectfully express gratitude for the contributions of the Hung Kings and ancestors in building and defending the country, and pray for luck, health, family harmony, and happiness to welcome the New Year of At Ty 2025.
Present at Hung Temple on the last days of the year, many people and tourists said that every year, they and their families organize a festival at Hung Temple, a spring trip to the Ancestral Land to pray for peace and luck for their families and friends. This is a good custom of the descendants of Lac Hong. That affirms that, through many ups and downs of the nation's history, the worship of Hung Kings has always been passed down, occupying the most sacred position in the spiritual life of the Vietnamese people, having a lasting vitality and increasingly spreading strongly among all classes of people.
Coming to Phu Tho in the spring, visitors will be immersed in the spiritual cultural space of hundreds of folk festivals at the origin of the Vietnamese people, including festivals and beliefs that have been recognized as national intangible cultural heritages such as Dao Xa Communal House Festival, Au Co Temple Festival associated with Au Co Mother Worship Belief, Tro Tram Festival...
