Phan Chu Trinh walking street and Lam Son Square cultural space (Thanh Hoa city) will be inaugurated at the end of June 2024. This place is expected to be an attractive meeting place for many people and tourists every weekend.

Located in the center of Thanh Hoa city, Phan Chu Trinh walking street and Lam Son Square cultural space (abbreviated as Phan Chu Trinh walking street), is a place associated with symbolic works of Thanh Hoa province and city such as: Lam Son Theater, Lam Son Square, Thanh Hoa Station... known by many tourists inside and outside the province.

With an area of ​​over 13 hectares, the walking street is organized into 4 spaces. The first space: Lam Son Square is the central area, where cultural activities, music performances, fashion shows, folk performances and street art take place...; space 2: includes Ly Nhan Tong, Ho Xuan Huong and Nguyen Don Tiet streets (in which Ly Nhan Tong street is decorated with the theme of conical hat space; Ho Xuan Huong street with the theme of Hoi An space; Nguyen Don Tiet street with the theme of colorful space); space 3: part of Phan Chu Trinh street - the central space of the walking street, introducing traditional handicraft products, precious stones, feng shui stones... and OCOP products in and outside the province; space 4: children's play area, kiosks selling fast food, soft drinks, at the fountain area west of Lam Son Square and the clock tower.

After more than 1 month of operation, Phan Chu Trinh walking street has attracted nearly 20 thousand visitors to visit and check-in at cultural and experience spaces. The walking street has also attracted 164 households to participate in business, mainly kiosks selling fast food, drinks, souvenirs, traditional handicrafts, folk toys... and some entertainment services for children. According to the assessment of the Phan Chu Trinh walking street management board, most of the business households have complied with the regulations, traded in the registered products, in accordance with the plan for organizing service, trade, and tourism activities, listed prices and sold at the listed prices...

Director of the Center for Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa City Hoang Cao Thang, Head of the Management Board of Phan Chu Trinh Walking Street said: “Cultural and artistic activities at Phan Chu Trinh Walking Street have been organized in a diverse and rich manner, creating great attraction for the people and tourists. The Management Board of the Walking Street has developed a script for the cultural and artistic program for each week of the month, submitted for approval before implementation, so the cultural and artistic activities during the weeks are always implemented according to the plan, in accordance with the approved content. However, besides the achieved results, in the early stages of operation, serving tourists still had some limitations, such as the performances of cultural and artistic clubs were still overlapping, not really diverse; the number of visitors to the walking street was still limited; the business items were not really rich; the awareness of some business households was not high in strictly implementing the rules and regulations of the walking street"...

According to representatives of some tourism businesses, building walking streets is an inevitable trend, creating a driving force to promote urban economic development, meeting the needs of the people and tourists. However, to attract visitors to walking streets, it is necessary to create unique features and bear the cultural imprint of Thanh land. First of all, it is necessary to raise awareness of business households; attract businesses to participate in service business; promote connections between spaces and link many types of community culture together. In particular, cultural activities and music performances need to harmoniously combine tradition and modernity... to create a unique space, attractive to many ages. That will require visitors to explore all areas of the walking street, to fully experience the value of the destination.

In reality, not all walking streets attract visitors due to the characteristics of each street. Besides shopping and cuisine, Phan Chu Trinh walking street can completely develop a variety of entertainment and experience activities based on the cultural foundation and existing service facilities of the streets here. On the other hand, it is necessary to develop more bars and restaurants with lively live music... to meet the development trends and needs of tourists.

It is known that to ensure the operation of the walking street, Thanh Hoa City has established a steering committee, an organizing committee and a management committee, and assigned tasks to the Vice Chairmen of the Thanh Hoa City People's Committee to be in charge every week. In the coming time, the city will continue to research and supplement items on technical infrastructure, decorative electricity, symbols to create highlights in the spaces, and gradually change the management model of activities. In which, it will move towards inviting businesses to participate in the management, operation and exploitation of the walking street. Along with that, it is necessary to focus on implementing good business culture, diversifying products and ensuring the quality of goods; at the same time, strictly implementing regulations to affirm that the walking street is a cultural destination, leaving a good impression in the hearts of people and tourists when coming to Thanh Hoa City.
