The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just requested departments and branches to promptly submit for approval the 1/500 planning and feasibility study report for the Can Gio coastal urban area, so that the investor can start the project before April 30, 2025.

Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has sent a document to the Department of Planning and Architecture and the Department of Construction of Ho Chi Minh City requesting to speed up the legal implementation of the Can Gio coastal urban area project.
Accordingly, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai assigned the Department of Planning and Architecture to urgently review, appraise and submit to the City People's Committee for consideration and approval of the 1/500 planning project of Can Gio coastal urban area in December 2024.
In addition, the Department of Construction will review and guide Can Gio Urban Tourism Joint Stock Company to complete the dossier and feasibility study report for the project's sea encroachment category, so that it can be appraised immediately after the 1/500 planning project is approved.
At the same time, the Department of Construction submitted to the City People's Committee for consideration and approval of the feasibility study report for the sea encroachment project in January 2025, so that Can Gio Urban Tourism Joint Stock Company has a basis to complete other procedures related to planning and start the project before April 30, 2025, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
Previously, in October 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee decided to approve the detailed planning task of 1/500 of Can Gio coastal urban area. The unit organizing the detailed planning is Can Gio Urban Tourism Joint Stock Company and within a maximum of 6 months, the detailed planning project must be prepared for approval.
The proposed population size of Can Gio coastal urban tourism area is a maximum of 228,560 people. The tourist scale of the entire project is about 8.887 million/year.
The planning area is located in Long Hoa commune and Can Thanh town, Can Gio district. The entire urban area is 2,870 hectares in size. The approved functional zones include 4 zones A, B, C and DE.
Sub-area A (953.23ha) is planned as an ecological residential area associated with tourism services at the gateway area of Can Gio coastal urban tourism area.
Sub-area B (659.87ha) is a residential area, resort tourism, urban public service works (healthcare, education, administrative headquarters, commercial services, offices...). This is also an urban green area, a technical infrastructure hub.
Zone C (318.32ha) is the financial, economic, commercial, service, office and port center, a modern urban area including residential areas (townhouses, villas, high-rise buildings).
Zone D (480.46ha) is a commercial center, high-class resort, modern urban area and zone E (458.12ha) is water surface, canal and green trees.
