The drama reading program takes place at Café La Rotonde (185B, Tran Hung Dao, District 1, HCMC), twice a month, on the middle and last Tuesday evenings of the month.

Play reading, add new play format

Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , director Viet Linh said that the form of reading plays is quite popular abroad but in Vietnam it is probably still new.

This is a project that the director has cherished for a long time. She made it with the hope that the audience would have a new form of enjoying drama.

These are plays that have already been performed on stage, now in another format.

The opening play of the drama reading program number 1 is Thien Thien .

Thien Thien Drama is the first stage project of director Viet Linh, released in 2014.

The play was written by her from the combination of ideas from two short stories Happiness is Together (author Vu Hoi Nguyen) and Xoa (Tang Song Nam).

Thien Thien features artists Thanh Thuy, Minh Trang, Hong Anh, Khanh Hoang, Quy Binh, Quoc Thao, Cat Tuong, Van Trang...

Director Viet Linh shared about the drama reading program: "This form is similar to Listening to stories at night , but the drama reading is more elaborate and dramatic because the actors directly perform the roles along with sound, music...".

According to her, watching movies is 100% imposed, watching plays is 50% imposed, with reading plays she believes that the audience can develop 100% of the play's content imagination according to personal feelings, without being imposed on the visual aspect.

In the first reading program, director Viet Linh will play the main role, Thien Thien.

Director Viet Linh explained that she participated this time because she understood the character's spirit best, and in the future she will train other artists.

Thien Thien also features the voices of actors Le Chi Na, Dinh Manh Phuc, Vo Minh Lam, Nhu Yen, Bao Kim, Hoang Trung Anh, Cam Tien...

With this new performance format, Hong Hac Stage still holds full rehearsals like regular plays.

The play takes place in a cozy cafe space with only about 50 seats. Before and after each performance, there is an exchange with the actors.

After Thien Thien , the second program is the play Visa , based on a short story by author Hai Mien.

The first play, Hong Hac, received support from Hung Vo Foundation and Dong A Books.
