Since October 19, the Bali provincial government (Indonesia) has begun applying a state of emergency warning on the island for 2 weeks to respond to the ongoing drought and fire situation.
The Bali government is trying to speed up efforts to extinguish existing fires and continue distributing aid to areas facing a water crisis due to drought, the acting governor of Bali, SangMade Mahendra Jaya, was quoted by Antara news agency as saying.
Meanwhile, the director of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), Mr. I Made Rentin, also pledged to support the application of weather modification technology to create artificial rain in Bali because it is the venue for a number of international events. According to Mr. Rentin, if there is no timely solution, the risk of fires will continue to break out in other areas such as Kalimantan, Sumatra and Riau.
