On April 18, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued an urgent dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and cities and functional units in localities, requesting to strengthen supervision, inspection and control of the market, especially dairy products, medicines and health protection foods in the face of the increasing situation of counterfeit goods causing public outrage.
In the dispatch, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien said that recently, the authorities have continuously discovered many serious cases related to the production, advertising, and distribution of fake milk, fake medicine, and fake health food in some localities. These activities have been going on for many years, directly affecting the health and lives of the people.
To strengthen the responsibility of managing and handling the above situation, the Minister of Industry and Trade requested the People's Committees of provinces and cities to closely monitor market developments and promptly report to the Ministry of Industry and Trade on fluctuations related to essential goods, especially goods that directly affect people's health.
The Minister requested localities to direct competent authorities to: urgently inspect the compliance with the law of drug and health food businesses; recall all fake drugs and health food; and strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate the law.
The Minister of Industry and Trade also requested the authorities to inspect and strictly handle acts of false advertising, especially products that directly affect people's health. Provinces and cities direct competent authorities to conduct post-inspection of self-declaration of products, registration of declarations, production, import, advertising, and sampling and testing of products listed in Appendix II of Decree 15/2018/ND-CP. The post-inspection contents should focus on: health protection foods, medical nutritional foods, products for special diets, food supplements and nutritional formula products for young children.
For the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development, the Minister requested close coordination with local forces, directing market management forces to strengthen inspection and strictly handle acts of production and trade of fake food, fake milk, and fake medicine.
