Assessing and promoting cooperation among the three countries of Vietnam-Cambodia-Laos

The three Prime Ministers agreed that many trilateral cooperation mechanisms between Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos have been formed and effectively promoted, contributing practically to consolidating and fostering cooperation between the three countries.

According to the special correspondent of VNA, on the occasion of attending the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits in Vientiane, Laos, on October 9, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet had a working breakfast to review, evaluate and promote cooperation between the three countries.

At the meeting, the three Prime Ministers emphasized that the tradition of solidarity, attachment and mutual assistance between Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos is a valuable asset, the foundation for developing cooperative relations and mutual trust, and a key factor in promoting solidarity and attachment among the three countries.

The three Prime Ministers agreed that many trilateral cooperation mechanisms between Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos have been formed and effectively promoted, contributing practically to consolidating and fostering cooperation between the three countries.

Defense-security cooperation continues to be an important pillar of the three countries' cooperative relationship. Economic-trade-investment cooperation has made strong progress. People-to-people exchange programs are increasingly diverse. Party channel cooperation plays a core role in guiding the development of relations.

In that spirit, the three sides agreed to coordinate well in organizing the meeting between the leaders of the three Parties in the coming time; continue to coordinate closely in ensuring national security, building and developing the country; maintain regular bilateral and trilateral contacts at high levels and at all levels and sectors; and enhance exchanges between young leaders and youth.

The three Prime Ministers said that economic and trade development cooperation between the three countries needs strategic breakthroughs to match the stature of political relations and the potential and strengths of each country.

The three leaders agreed to join hands to strengthen cooperation to ensure security, safety and order in border areas, especially the areas adjacent to the three countries; promote development cooperation in border areas, focusing on promoting the effectiveness of the land border gate system between the three countries; promote infrastructure connectivity, transportation, and economic linkages between the three countries, creating maximum convenience for exchanges and cooperation in all aspects between the three countries in general and the border provinces in particular.

The three sides maintained the principle of not allowing hostile forces to use the territory of one country to harm the security of another; at the same time, they agreed to well organize the annual meeting between the three countries' Defense Ministers and the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Ministerial Conference on Crime Prevention.

The three Prime Ministers agreed to seek solutions to develop bilateral and trilateral cooperation mechanisms in a more effective and substantive manner, for the benefit of the people of the three countries, for the ASEAN Community, and to continue contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked and hoped that the Lao and Cambodian governments would continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in both countries to live stably, integrate into the local society, and make positive contributions to the development of Laos and Cambodia as well as the relationship between the three countries.

The leaders of the three countries also affirmed to continue supporting each other at international forums, especially ASEAN and the United Nations; and support Cambodia in successfully organizing the 20th Francophone Summit in 2026./.
