TPO - The State Audit announced the conclusion that in the two school years 2020-2021 and 2021-2022, Thu Dau Mot University (Binh Duong) collected tuition fees from students in violation of regulations of more than 37 billion VND. This amount was then paid into the budget and not refunded to students, according to the school, this was done in accordance with regulations.
On October 17, a representative of Thu Dau Mot University (Binh Duong) said that in early 2023, the State Audit announced the conclusion after conducting an audit at this school from 2015 to 2021.
Accordingly, the State Audit determined that Thu Dau Mot University illegally collected more than VND 37 billion from students in the two school years 2020-2021 and 2021-2022.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Chairman of the Board of Thu Dau Mot University, said that the entire amount has been paid into the budget.

Explain why the collected money was not returned to students but put into the budget? The Chairman of the Council of Thu Dau Mot University said that because the money collected from students at that time was not autonomous, the budget was still subsidized, so when there was an audit conclusion, the school returned it to the budget.
Previously, right after the State Audit announced its conclusion, the People's Committee of Binh Duong province directed Thu Dau Mot University to refund to students (in case of failure to refund, it must be paid to the budget) the tuition fees collected in excess of the prescribed level.
In addition, the People's Committee of Binh Duong province also requested to consider handling collective and individual responsibilities (if any) for Thu Dau Mot University due to collecting tuition fees for regular university programs, university programs using the continuing education method, master's and doctoral training programs in the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years higher than the prescribed ceiling.
