Da Nang develops 172 innovative startup projects

Da Nang City has developed 172 innovative startup projects, established 72 enterprises, but only 55 enterprises and 90 projects are still in operation.

Da Nang City has just announced the implementation of a policy to support the innovative startup ecosystem in the city.

Statistics from Da Nang City show that the City has supported 27 businesses.

Of which, direct funding support for 19 innovative start-up businesses with a total budget of more than 3.6 billion VND to perfect technology, develop start-up products, use services and incubate, and develop start-up projects.

In addition, supporting 8 businesses, the Institute implemented incubation and acceleration programs with a total budget of more than 1.4 billion VND. On average, each incubator has incubated and accelerated 6-8 projects/year.

By the end of June 2024, through support programs and incubation and acceleration programs of incubators, Da Nang City has developed 172 innovative startup projects and established 72 enterprises.

Many of these businesses have developed strongly, grown rapidly, and raised millions of USD in capital, such as Datbike, Selly, Hekate, EM and AI, VOOC...; many products of start-up businesses have received initial support to commercialize their products and reach the market.

Da Nang City has implemented a policy to support the innovative startup ecosystem.

According to a survey in 2024 by the Department of Science and Technology of Da Nang City, by May 2024, 55/72 enterprises (accounting for 76.4%) and 90/172 projects (accounting for 52.3%) were operating and continuing to develop products. In addition, 17/72 enterprises and 82/172 projects had temporarily suspended operations.

The reasons for projects and businesses suspending operations are due to lack of capital to maintain production activities; difficulties in finding product output and accessing the market, lack of human resources or adjustments to business models and changes in development orientation.

According to Da Nang City's assessment, the number of innovative start-up businesses still operating in the area accounts for 52.3%.

This is a fairly high rate, because the national average rate of innovative start-up projects and businesses still operating after 5 years is 20%.

Da Nang City also said that it has implemented support for businesses according to the policy of supporting businesses in technological innovation and the policy of developing intellectual property.

From 2017 to present, the People's Committee of Da Nang City has supported more than 70 enterprises, with a budget of more than 8.4 billion VND to help enterprises innovate technology, manufacture technological equipment, invest in advanced technology, high technology; apply advanced quality management systems...
