Da Nang, the most livable city in Vietnam, topped the rankings, with Nha Trang and Phu Quoc in second place. The remaining destinations include Ho Chi Minh City, Da Lat, Hoi An, Hanoi, Ha Long, Hue and Vung Tau. In 2022, Da Nang is still the most popular name in the top 10. Hoi An and Hanoi are the two new representatives this year, replacing the two names that appeared in the top last year, Mui Ne and Quy Nhon.
Bangkok (Thailand) tops the list of 10 most searched international destinations by Vietnamese tourists. Next are Singapore, Paris (France), Tokyo (Japan), Seoul (Korea), Sydney (Australia), London (UK), Rome (Italy), New York (USA) and Taipei (China). In 2022, the most desired destination for Vietnamese tourists is Singapore. Last year's champion Bangkok is in second place.
Hotels and resorts are the top choice for tourists when going on vacation, followed by apartments for rent, homestays, and motels.
According to Booking's 2023 Travel Forecast shows that 74% of Vietnamese people believe that travel is always a worthwhile experience, and 78% believe that summer is the best time to travel. Vietnamese travelers are concerned about the global economic situation but have no intention of giving up their travel plans. However, they are considering allocating their travel budget more carefully, such as taking advantage of promotions, travel tips, and choosing their travel time more wisely. 74% of respondents prioritize using discount programs.
The survey results are based on data on the number of people searching and booking rooms on the Booking app from April 3 to 16, with check-in dates from July 1 to August 31.
Country Director of Booking.com in Vietnam Varun Grover said that the Vietnamese people's eagerness to plan their summer vacations this year is "a good sign". "We hope to make it easier for people to explore the world and enjoy the unforgettable experiences that we get from our journeys," Grover said.
