At the meeting on the morning of March 14 with tourism businesses to deploy preparations to serve guests on the occasion of April 30, May 1 and the peak summer season in 2024, Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh said that this year, the city's tourism industry was assigned a target of welcoming 8.42 million visitors, an increase of 13.8% compared to 2023, nearly 105% of 2019.
Da Nang will promote night tourism products to create more attraction and increase visitors' length of stay.
In the first two months of this year, the total number of visitors served by accommodation establishments in the area was estimated at 1.17 million, up 23.3% over the same period; of which, international visitors were estimated at 370 thousand, up 26.5% and domestic visitors were estimated at 798 thousand, up 22%. Revenue from accommodation, food and beverage, and travel was estimated at over 5 trillion VND, up 29.5%; of which, revenue from accommodation and travel was estimated at over 2.43 trillion VND, up 51% over the same period.
According to Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, the tourism brand and attractiveness of Da Nang destination continue to be proven through many prestigious international tourism titles and awards, along with the favorite choice of tourists, bringing many advantages to the city's tourism industry in 2024.
In particular, the recent event of billionaire Bill Gates vacationing and visiting Son Tra peninsula has brought recognition value, enhanced the position of Da Nang destination, increased communication effects, spread the image of Da Nang tourism, contributing to attracting more and more international visitors to the city, especially high-quality visitors.
However, Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh also said that it is forecasted that in 2024, Da Nang's tourism activities will face many major difficulties and challenges that could reduce the number of visitors to the city. Among them, the global economic recession and strong competition for domestic and international destinations are prominent.
Meanwhile, tourism motivation projects in the area have not been implemented, so there is a lack of new products; the trend of key international tourist markets shifting to find new destinations; some direct international flights connecting the markets of Europe, Australia, the US, and India are difficult to implement because the number of two-way visitors does not ensure effective exploitation...
3 new product groups
To achieve the goal of welcoming visitors in 2024, the Da Nang Department of Tourism is working with departments, branches and units to create conditions and support tourism service businesses to remove difficulties and obstacles; invest in upgrading and renewing products and services, organize events; link supply chains; ensure security and food safety to serve customers.
Along with that, we will study and propose more unique new tourism product ideas of Da Nang by mobilizing socialization or investing funds from the city budget. In particular, we will mobilize resources to prepare 3 new product groups to create more attraction and increase the length of stay of visitors.
In particular, the night tourism product group will pilot the extended Bach Dang walking street, pilot night tourism services on Nguyen Van Troi bridge and the East bank park; implement the festival program on both banks of the Han River (increasing the number of street music programs).
Organizing night tours based on connecting sightseeing spots, experiencing night tourism; weekend activities along two coastal routes. Organizing waterway tourism to see Da Nang at night; implementing projects such as River of Light on the Han River; International Fireworks Complex; Phase 2 of An Thuong Tourist Street.
For the group of culinary tourism products, a plan will be implemented to develop cuisine into a unique tourism product in Da Nang according to the roadmap approved by the City People's Committee. In the immediate future, a survey will be conducted to classify, build a map of Da Nang cuisine and organize communication.
At the same time, support training in preparing dishes with regional flavors; organize culinary competitions, launch startups, honor culinary addresses, standardize food safety; encourage culinary establishments to decorate, create check-in points and build stories about dishes, demonstrate food preparation for guests to experience.
For the wedding tourism product group, the Da Nang Department of Tourism will coordinate to organize surveys and announce check-in points and wedding venues with many segments for domestic and international guests; build a wedding service supply chain, and issue policies to attract wedding tourism.
