Ukrainian counteroffensive in Kherson region fails

In recent days, Russian forces have regained control of military positions north of the village of Krynki. Due to the recent Russian advance, the width of the Ukrainian stronghold has been reduced to less than 1 km.

Over the past two months, the Ukrainian military has launched several operations to try to regain control of the area. After fierce fighting, the village was destroyed. Under heavy Russian fire, the remnants of the Ukrainian forces on the east bank were no longer able to conduct military operations and were forced to take refuge in the few remaining bunkers.

The Ukrainian command also recently withdrew its main forces and military equipment from Krinky. Elite Ukrainian marine units suffered heavy losses and were forced to withdraw from the village.

Ukrainian forces' attempts to cross the Dnieper River were stopped by Russian fire, including drone attacks and artillery bombardment.

In the Artemovsk direction, the Russian armed forces intensified their offensive on the western front of the city of Artemovsk, especially in the areas near the settlements of Bogdanovka and Ivanovskoye (Krasnoye). Over the past 400 hours, the Russian army has made significant progress, gaining control of up to 300 meters of territory south of Chasov Yar.

The eastern part of Chasov Yar is currently a “gray zone” where military operations are still active. The possibility of the Russian army launching an attack on this strategically important enemy fortified area is considered very likely. To counter this, Ukrainian army units are actively exploiting the approaches to the city, trying to stop the advance of the Russian army.

AVP also reported on Russian military offensive operations on the Kleshcheevka heights northwest of the city, south of Artemovsk, where Russian troops are pushing Ukrainian forces back to positions they had held before the start of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ summer counteroffensive in 2023.

The Ukrainian army is reportedly suffering significant losses in both personnel and military equipment, including Western-made equipment. However, the Ukrainian side has no plans to abandon its holding of the main fortified areas in the Artemovsk direction of the front. This suggests that changes can be expected.
