“My wish is to develop tourism in a sustainable way; that wish, so I have cherished and prepared for more than 20 years; with that idea, later I made this tourist area with many highlights, memorable points: there is a sightseeing area for taking photos, many water games, folk games and a river beach... so it makes tourists feel close to nature. Although I have been to many areas, but when I come to this tourist area, I feel it is different”. Mr. Nguyen Van Nghi shared.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of An Giang province, Con En Eco-tourism Area is just one of many local tourist areas and destinations with a bright - green - clean - beautiful landscape and environment; friendly to the environment. In order to develop tourism associated with environmental protection, in recent times, the local tourism industry has focused on and strongly implemented environmental protection work, especially in the field of tourism. On June 4, 2021, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 1214, on the program of coordination of environmental protection in An Giang province, period 2021-2023.

To effectively implement this decision, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proactively strengthened environmental protection in tourism activities, organized festivals, protected and promoted relics in the province through many rich and diverse activities. Regularly organize propaganda activities and raise awareness of environmental protection in the tourism sector. Up to now, 13 training courses on environmental protection in tourism activities; organized festivals, protected and promoted the value of relics for nearly 700 trainees; including civil servants, public employees and workers at the Departments of Culture and Information, and the units of Culture, Sports - Broadcasting and Tourism in 11 districts, towns and cities.

Each year, this tourist area attracts about 6 million visitors.

In order to exploit effectively, in recent times, the Management Board of Sam Mountain National Tourist Area has not only proactively coordinated with local authorities and relevant units to do a good job of protecting the environment in tourism activities, but also done a good job of organizing festivals, protecting and promoting the relic values ​​of Sam Mountain National Tourist Area.

“The Sam Mountain National Tourist Area has also had solutions: first is to create a green-clean-beautiful, airy environment. Coordinate with local authorities, especially the support of Chau Doc city to focus on the issue of protecting the buffer zone and core zone of the national relic site, which has been approved by the Government, which is an airy environment. Second, together with the Mausoleum Committee and Chau Doc city, advise the An Giang Provincial People's Committee to maintain and promote festivals, especially the Sam Mountain Lady Festival, which is becoming more and more attractive, so that more and more tourists come every day", Mr. Truong Huu Tien shared.

At the same time, to develop tourism associated with environmental protection, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also organizes conferences to share experiences in environmental protection, to listen to opinions and learn, replicate models from tourist areas, attractions, sightseeing spots as well as tourism businesses on the use of environmentally friendly products.

Specifically, in 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has printed 5,000 publications promoting the "environmental protection criteria" in tourism activities; coordinated the production of reports and articles in the media on the effectiveness of environmental protection models in tourism activities. Thanks to that, it has contributed to raising awareness of the practical effectiveness of environmental protection work in the tourism sector. Ms. Lam Ngoc Tinh, Human Resources and Administration Manager of Victoria Nui Sam, Chau Doc city shared that environmental protection in tourism activities is an important factor in sustainable tourism development.

“Not only Victoria Nui Sam Hotel, but all hotels of the group also carry out the same environmental protection issue; almost all of the hotel's equipment and materials are environmentally friendly; no plastic products are used and especially no disposable plastic products are used, but items for guests to take away such as lunch boxes, or cups... are all made of paper or sugarcane bagasse. Our hotel as well as the group have registered for an international certificate on "sustainable tourism", this is the pride of the hotel", Ms. Lam Ngoc Tinh added.

Continuing the results achieved in the past time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism continues to implement program No. 404 of the Provincial People's Committee on the environmental protection coordination program of the tourism sector, period 2024-2026.
