General Oleksandr Syrskyi, a senior commander of the Ukrainian army, said on November 11 that Russia is mobilizing tens of thousands of troops in the border area to try to push Kiev forces out of the territory it controls in Kursk province.

General Syrskyi made the statement a day after Moscow massed 50,000 troops in the region bordering Ukraine in preparation for an offensive.

"Russian forces are trying to push back our troops and advance deep into the territory controlled by Ukraine," Syrskyi said in a post on the Telegram app.

However, the general did not mention the presence of North Korean soldiers while Western countries, South Korea and Ukraine all confirmed that Pyongyang had sent soldiers to Russia.

According to statistics from the Russian Ministry of Defense , since the fighting began in Kursk, Ukraine has lost more than 30,800 troops, 189 tanks, 123 infantry fighting vehicles, 107 armored personnel carriers, 1,095 armored fighting vehicles, 833 motor vehicles and 262 artillery systems.

Earlier, on August 6, Kiev launched a major offensive in Russia's Kursk region, an area bordering Ukraine, despite the country's serious shortage of manpower and weapons supplies.

The offensive is aimed at forcing Moscow to transfer military resources from eastern Ukraine and helping Kiev improve its position at the negotiating table in the future.
