Dai Ninh Pass is not the highest point of Phan Son and Phan Lam mountains and forests, but it is the peak of National Highway 28B connecting the two provinces of Binh Thuan and Lam Dong, the starting point is Luong Son town, Bac Binh district, the end point is adjacent to National Highway 20 in Ninh Gia commune, Duc Trong district (Lam Dong), with a length of nearly 70 km.
This route was started in mid-2003, after 5 years of construction, the route was completed and put into use to serve the construction of Dai Ninh Hydropower Plant. In March 2014, the Luong Son - Dai Ninh road was converted into National Highway 28B. This route has many steep passes and sharp turns, of which Dai Ninh Pass is 12 kilometers long, with many winding, winding, and dangerous steep sections, and this is also the most beautiful pass hidden in the clouds in the Phan Son highlands. At the end of 2023, the Ministry of Transport approved the investment in the renovation and upgrading project with the goal of completing the transportation system of the two provinces; strengthening regional connectivity to meet transportation needs on the east-west corridor connecting the Central Highlands with the Central provinces. The project is 68 km long, of which 51 km passes through Binh Thuan province, 17 km through Lam Dong province, the roadbed width is 12 m, the road surface width is 7 m with a total project investment of 1,435 billion VND from the state budget. Construction is expected to be completed in 2025 and completed in 2026.
Since the National Highway 28B was built, tourists from Lam Dong to Binh Thuan for vacation or tourists from Binh Thuan to visit and admire the scenery of Da Lat all pass through Dai Ninh Pass. Although the road surface is not beautiful and the road is not wide, the scenery of Dai Ninh Pass is like a watercolor painting, which is rare in other places. Especially in the cold season, when reaching the top of Dai Ninh Pass, travelers feel like they are walking on clouds, an ideal stop for travelers to admire the beautiful scenery of the paradise, the majestic mountains and forests.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long, a tourist from Da Lat who came to Phan Thiet for a vacation, shared: “I have been here many times, but now I have the opportunity to stop at the top of the pass, to look out and feel the heavenly beauty, the majestic mountains and forests. In the distance, the deep green old forests, undulating, appear and disappear in the white clouds floating like cotton. On both sides of the pass, many wild flowers are blooming, occasionally interspersed with coffee gardens blooming white... the scenery of Dai Ninh pass is like a picture that is difficult to describe in words...”.
