(NLDO) - From the end of 2024 until now, the Tax Department in Ho Chi Minh City has continuously warned about fraud so that taxpayers can be vigilant.

On February 14, speaking with a reporter from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department said that recently, in the city, there have been cases of some individuals impersonating tax agencies and tax officers to commit acts of property appropriation.
Therefore, the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department continues to warn taxpayers about the tricks of scammers, although it has not yet received information about any taxpayers falling into the trap.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department, the most common form of fraud is that scammers call taxpayers to help them install tax industry applications on their computers and mobile phones; invite taxpayers to work, guide them in declaring tax exemptions and reductions, and hold their citizen identification cards to contact tax authorities to receive tax refunds...
"In particular, some subjects have asked taxpayers to provide some information such as: account to access the tax payment application via eTax Mobile, tax code, citizen identification card, business registration certificate...; invitation letter to update information on value added tax reduction policy, personal income tax refund... and declare information on the electronic tax website to receive electronic records" - Mr. Dung added.
To avoid falling into the scam trap, Mr. Dung advised taxpayers not to follow the instructions when receiving invitations. Taxpayers should also note that the official website of the tax authority uses the "https" protocol and the Vietnamese national domain name ".vn". For example, the website of the General Department of Taxation has the domain name: https://www.gdt.gov.vn; the website of the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department has the domain name: https://tphcm.gdt.gov.vn.
"In particular, taxpayers should not provide information on websites that are not the official websites of the tax authorities. Business organizations, business households, and individuals should directly contact the tax authority that manages the unit or call the official phone number list of the Ho Chi Minh City Tax Department posted on the website https://tphcm.gdt.gov.vn/ or of the General Department of Taxation on the website https://www.gdt.gov.vn/ to report and receive timely support," said Mr. Dung.
