Ethnic minority communities join hands to build Dien Bien to become more and more developed.

NDO - On the morning of November 8, the People's Committee of Dien Bien province organized the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Dien Bien province, with the theme: "Promoting the heroic tradition of Dien Bien Phu; the people of all ethnic groups of Dien Bien province unite, preserve the cultural identity of all ethnic groups, develop socio-economy; ensure national defense and security".

The congress was attended by 250 official delegates representing more than 530 thousand ethnic minorities in the province.

Attending and congratulating the congress were comrade Nong Thi Ha, Deputy Minister, Vice Chairman of the Ethnic Committee, comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, leaders of the People's Council, People's Committee of the province, and representatives of departments, branches and sectors.

Reviewing some outstanding results and results of implementing the Resolution of the 3rd Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Dien Bien Province (2019-2024 period), Comrade Lo Van Tien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Bien Province, said that, inheriting the revolutionary tradition, patriotism, wholeheartedly following the Party and Uncle Ho, with the spirit of "Heroic Dien Bien Phu", ethnic minorities in the province have overcome difficulties, been self-reliant, highly determined and well implemented the Resolution of the 3rd Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Dien Bien Province and achieved many proud achievements.

The average growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the province is about 9.3%/year (ranking Dien Bien 3rd/14 provinces in the northern midlands and mountainous region, 5th/63 provinces and cities in the country); the whole province has 54 communes meeting and basically meeting new rural standards, the average number of criteria is 14.12 criteria/commune; 650 villages and hamlets are recognized as meeting new rural standards and model new rural areas; the forest coverage rate is estimated at 44.01% (an increase of 4.26% compared to 2018); 2 intangible cultural heritages were listed by UNESCO as representative intangible cultural heritages of humanity,...

In particular, the implementation of the National Target Program on socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas of the province has achieved quite comprehensive results, notably: infrastructure is increasingly developed; the lives of ethnic minorities are constantly improving, the poverty rate has decreased by more than 5%/year, exceeding the target of the Program (by the end of 2023, it will be 25.68%); culture-society, education, health care are guaranteed, preserving and promoting traditional cultural values ​​in ethnic minorities have had very positive changes; political security, social order and safety are maintained.

The work of building the Party and the political system continues to be of concern; the great solidarity bloc of ethnic groups continues to be promoted. Among ethnic minorities, there have appeared more and more models and typical examples of emulation movements for socio-economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, and new rural construction, such as: Mr. Luong Van Phieu in Quai Nua commune, Tuan Giao district ; Mr. Vi Ngoc Quang in Noong Bua ward, Dien Bien Phu city; Mr. Mua A Chang, a typical farmer in Ta Phin village, Ta Phin commune, Tua Chua district, ... have changed their thinking and working methods, closely followed reality to achieve achievements and contributed to the change of rural areas on the heroic land of Dien Bien Phu.

Speaking at the congress, Comrade Nong Thi Ha, Deputy Minister, Vice Chairman of the Ethnic Committee, commended the results achieved by the ethnic people of Dien Bien province in implementing the Resolution of the 3rd Congress of Ethnic Minorities.

Comrade Nong Thi Ha affirmed that this is a very valuable and proud achievement; demonstrating the political determination and strong direction and leadership of the Party Committees and authorities at all levels who have always paid attention to ethnic work and ethnic minority areas. The achievements that ethnic minorities in Dien Bien province have achieved in the period of 2019-2024 have significantly contributed to the overall achievements of ethnic minorities nationwide, joining hands and hearts to build a strong Vietnam.

Proposing that the Party committees, Party organizations and authorities at all levels of Dien Bien province continue to pay attention to the ethnic minority areas, at the congress, comrade Nong Thi Ha also suggested that each individual, each community and each ethnic minority in Dien Bien should contribute to building and nurturing the spirit of great solidarity of ethnic groups to last forever. With 250 excellent delegates honored to attend the Congress, comrade Nong Thi Ha expressed her belief that each delegate will continue to be an inspiring example, connecting ethnic minorities together with the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people to join hands to realize the determination of the Congress, contributing to building and protecting the homeland of Dien Bien to develop more and more and build a strong, beautiful and rich country.

Recognizing the contributions of collectives and individuals to ethnic work and ethnic minority areas in Dien Bien province in the past period, at the Congress, 6 collectives and individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Minister and Chairman of the Ethnic Committee; 5 individuals were awarded the Medal for the Cause of Ethnic Development; 30 collectives and individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Bien province.
