Public preschools accept children from June 15

(HNMO) - On the afternoon of June 15, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a press conference to provide information on socio-economic issues and some areas of public concern.

Regarding landslide prevention and control during this year's rainy and stormy season, according to Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Irrigation Department Tran Nhan Nghia, the city currently has 32 dangerous landslide locations on riverbanks, canals, and ditches.

In order to proactively respond, the City People's Committee has implemented many solutions, specifically: Strengthening the management, inspection and handling of acts of encroachment on river, canal and ditch corridors; gradually clearing areas that have encroached on river, canal and ditch corridors that have existed before and having structural and non-structural solutions to create urban aesthetics and limit bank erosion; organizing the installation of warning signs at locations at risk of landslides so that people know and have prevention plans; regularly propagating and mobilizing people not to encroach on river, canal and ditch corridors; rearranging and relocating residents in areas at high risk of landslides to safe settlements.

Regarding the restriction of passenger cars entering the inner city from 6am to 10pm, according to Nguyen Kien Giang, Deputy Head of the Infrastructure Exploitation Department, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, many relevant units have proposed to increase the time so as not to affect the city's residents. Currently, the city's Department of Transport is seeking opinions for the second time from 32 functional units. Accordingly, about 2/3 of the units agreed to ban passenger cars from entering the inner city 24/24. However, the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee did not agree because it wanted to create conditions for people to travel. It is expected that there will be official information in the third quarter of 2023, creating conditions to serve the people well.

One of the issues that has also received public attention is the implementation of childcare during this year's summer vacation. According to Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, public preschools will take care of children from June 15 to August 15, ensuring that workers' work is not affected.

Regarding the 6th grade enrollment in 2023, this is the first year it will be implemented on the electronic information portal of the city's education sector, ensuring information is made public to avoid "school-running", helping parents feel secure. Regarding the issue of pork roll suspected of causing botulinum poisoning to 6 people in Thu Duc city, according to the Head of Thu Duc City Health Department Nguyen Van Khuon, the pork roll production facilities have no signboards, are not registered for business, and buy processed meat from small retail markets, making it very difficult to trace the origin. Currently, Thu Duc city has requested these facilities to stop operating. Thu Duc city authorities are also conducting simultaneous inspections of pork roll and other related foods to prevent and combat poisoning.

Regarding the issue of terminating the contracts of 3,077 workers over 40 years old of Pou Yuen Vietnam Co., Ltd., according to Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Van Lam, the city will focus on introducing new jobs for these workers, connecting with the Ho Chi Minh City Employment Service Center to find appropriate jobs that are suitable for their age.
