“Unhappy day” at the border
In the drizzling rain, the border village of Tay Giang was unusually cold and sad. Before the day of the National Funeral to send General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong back to his homeland, many households in the mountainous area quietly took down the national flag to tie mourning ribbons in remembrance.
Mr. Alang Tu - Head of the Front Work Committee of A Rang village (A Xan commune, Tay Giang) said that after the news of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's passing, all local people expressed their sadness and grief.
Although the locality has not had the honor of welcoming the General Secretary, through media information, everyone knows that he is an honest and virtuous person and is always interested in policies to support and invest in the development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

To commemorate the leader who devoted himself to the country and the people, before the National Day of Mourning, all 86 Co Tu households in A Rang village flew flags at half-mast and watched the special funeral on TV.
“For many days now, we have urged people to temporarily stop all entertainment activities and instructed households to hang flags at half-mast in front of their houses and on the street to express their condolences to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong,” Mr. Alang Tu shared.
Firm belief in the Party
Mr. Briu Quan - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tay Giang district said that as soon as receiving information about the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the locality proactively disseminated related contents, requested communes to direct flags to be flown at half-mast in residential areas and stop entertainment activities during the two days of National Mourning on July 25 and 26.
On the morning of July 25, many mountainous residential areas and Co Tu households in Tay Giang simultaneously flew flags at half-mast, showing responsibility for the country's sad event.
Mr. Briu Quan also said that, according to the plan, on July 26 and 27, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tay Giang district (Deputy Head of the Mountainous Emulation Cluster) will organize a conference to review the cluster for the first 6 months of 2024 and the second conference of the unit.
However, because it coincides with the National Mourning Day, to commemorate General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district asked for permission to postpone the cluster meeting and the second conference, moving the events to early August.

“The Co Tu people in Tay Giang in particular and the Co Tu community in general have great confidence in the leadership of the Party, especially the strong leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on the policy of fighting corruption and negativity among cadres and Party members. Therefore, hearing the news of the General Secretary's passing makes everyone feel sorry,” said Mr. Briu Quan.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Phuc Truong - Political Commissar of Ga Ry Border Guard Station (Tay Giang), in recent days, along with distributing national flags and mourning bands to local households, officers and soldiers of the unit have gone to residential areas to instruct people on how to fly flags at half-mast during the National Mourning Days.
At the same time, combine propaganda to the people about the example and great contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to the country's revolutionary cause.
“Through this work, officers and soldiers of Ga Ry Border Post call on people on the border to continue to have absolute trust in the leadership of the Party and the management of the State, to strengthen solidarity, unity, join hands, and promote the important and comprehensive results and achievements that our country has achieved.
"Encourage every citizen to strive to overcome all difficulties, together with the Border Guard to firmly protect the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and national border security, and social order and safety in the Vietnam - Laos border area" - Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Phuc Truong said.
