What is common sense content?
Specifically, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City announced the 90-minute entrance exam for grade 6 at Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, including multiple-choice and essay tests on abilities such as: language (English, Vietnamese-writing); mathematics and logical thinking; natural sciences, social sciences (history-geography); and common sense.
Parents of students wonder if " common sense of life" is new content in this year's survey.
Answering this question, the leader of the Secondary Education Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that for the competency test content in the 6th grade survey of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, students have all learned and practiced in primary school. At the same time, these contents have all appeared in the survey in previous years, this year there is no new content.
Similarly, Master Bui Thi Loc, a teacher at Nguyen Viet Xuan Center for Training Gifted Students (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), said that the content of the survey on life knowledge has appeared in the 6th grade survey questions of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted for many years.
According to Ms. Loc, the content of common knowledge includes mainly knowledge in the fields of science and geography, but is applied to real life more than in books.
To prepare students, teachers must be knowledgeable and teach them how to apply science to real life, requiring observation, thinking, and reasoning to find results. Teachers can show students videos of scientific experiments and ask questions related to reality.
Besides, students should accumulate practical knowledge in daily life, take advantage of watching science movies. And most importantly, always connect and apply to reality in all fields of knowledge, according to Ms. Loc.
