Stocks lack momentum, new story
* Mr. Bui Van Huy - Director of Ho Chi Minh City branch of DSC Securities:
- Stocks last week were affected by many different factors, so they missed the opportunity to break out in the context of many world markets surpassing historical peaks.
Pressure from foreign net selling is still persistent, VN-Index cannot surpass the 1,300 threshold, making many investors feel discouraged.
Regarding industry groups, there has been and continues to be strong differentiation. In particular, banking and securities may be more positive this week when the State Securities Commission and the Ministry of Finance complete the draft to amend 4 circulars on the stock market.
Mr. Bui Van Huy
Expectations that bottlenecks will soon be resolved and upgrading is still one of the main driving forces of the market.
Many other groups have recently had inevitable adjustments after being overvalued, such as aviation, rubber, technology, etc.
As for the real estate group, there is quite a strong differentiation. With some codes, the potential is quite large, the corporate finance is strong, still attracting cash flow.
This week's forecast is unlikely to see a breakthrough in scores, but it is also unlikely to see a deep drop. 1,250 is still the support zone.
It is expected that after this week, the stock market will enter a new phase, with new factors appearing to attract cash flow again.
Many investors are discouraged and choose to stand aside and observe.
* Mr. Truong Hien Phuong - Senior Director of KIS Vietnam Securities:
- Many people talk about this reason and that reason to explain the sharp drops last week, but I still think that is an "excuse" in the context of the market lacking the motivation to increase prices.
The news of foreign net selling is not new, as they have been selling steadily since the beginning of the year with a record volume of more than 2 billion USD. However, it is undeniable that when foreign investors regularly sell trillion-dollar sessions, domestic demand is getting weaker.
Domestic investors are more cautious when they see many sessions of loss. Unable to find profit, they are discouraged, not leaving the market but standing outside to observe.
Mr. Truong Hien Phuong
Especially after the market sessions increased in the morning and decreased sharply in the afternoon "without reason" or the reason did not reflect the true nature of the market and the health of stocks, making many investors more cautious.
Next week the market is likely to continue to accumulate, it is difficult to increase much or decrease deeply.
Regarding investment strategy, at this stage, choosing T+ investment stocks is relatively difficult in the context of lacking a big driving force for the market to bounce back.
Investors can consider when the market is down sharply, gradually buy if they have money. Good stocks should be kept, if not sold then no loss.
Mr. Dinh Quang Hinh - Head of Macro and Market Strategy Department - VNDirect Securities Analysis Department:
- Despite a week of decline, there are still some "bright" spots in the market. Liquidity shows signs of improvement as investors actively disburse during deep market corrections during the session.
Cash flow shows no signs of withdrawal but is differentiated among industry groups. In particular, the pillar stocks of banks have attracted cash flow back in the context of "credit starting to run" and positive business results of some commercial banks are gradually revealed.
However, on the contrary, the market is lacking enough momentum and supporting information to form a short-term uptrend.
Therefore, in the baseline scenario, cash flow will continue to be differentiated among industry groups. In this context, finding short-term profits is not easy and choosing the "right industry" and "right stock" will play a decisive role in profitability.
