At the meeting, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee reported on preparations for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
This is a particularly important and significant event, of national scale, closely coordinated by the Central Executive Committee, National Assembly, President, Government, Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Government.
The working session was chaired by Politburo members: Nguyen Trong Nghia - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee; General Phan Van Giang - Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense and Mr. Nguyen Van Nen - Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
To prepare for this important celebration, the Central Steering Committee assigned 15 tasks to ministries, branches and Ho Chi Minh City, of which Ho Chi Minh City directly presided over 8 tasks.
According to Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, the central government's requirements for the organization of the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day must highlight the central purpose and meaning; must have both gratitude and high political and ideological propaganda and education value; must be innovative, attractive, touching, and spread patriotism and national pride.
The celebration must be practical, safe, economical, and aimed at the people, so that people can enjoy the spiritual values, stature, and significance of this especially important event of the city and the country.
At the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia - Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism - Nguyen Van Hung gave comments and suggestions on a number of solutions to improve coordination between ministries and Ho Chi Minh City. The focus is on organizing the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) to ensure practicality, safety, economy and to help people enjoy the highest cultural and spiritual values during the holiday.
On behalf of the Politburo members, Head of the Central Propaganda Department – Nguyen Trong Nghia, recalled the experience of organizing historical events of the country, including the 70th Anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu victory. The thoughtful and solemn events have left a deep impression on the people at home, our overseas Vietnamese and international friends.
At the same time, Mr. Nghia also suggested that Ho Chi Minh City refer to the organization of celebrations in countries around the world, including Russia, to gain the best experience in preparing for the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
For each specific task and assignment of the Ministry, branch and Ho Chi Minh City, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department requested to promptly complete the project to organize the anniversary ceremony, the scenarios and programs of each agency and unit to submit to the Central Committee for comments and completion.
In particular, the celebration takes place in the context of the highest determination of the Party and State to streamline the apparatus and reduce staff from the central to local levels. Therefore, it is necessary to promote the highest responsibility and determination of each ministry and Ho Chi Minh City to prepare carefully for the important celebration next year.
