Ha Giang City Electricity ensures grid safety

BHG - In 2024, the work of ensuring occupational safety and hygiene at Ha Giang City Power Company will be strongly implemented, aiming to protect the safety of workers, officers and the community in the area surrounding the power grid system. This work not only includes safety measures during the operation and maintenance of equipment, but also focuses on propaganda activities, raising awareness of the community and authorities in coordinating the protection of the power grid safety corridor (HLATLĐ).

Ha Giang City Electricity has developed and implemented a work program to prevent grid incidents and strengthen high-voltage power grid safety by reviewing, correcting and updating the status of incidents in the power grid safety, while strengthening inspection and clearing of line corridors to prevent accidents and incidents. However, due to the terrain being mainly high hills and mountains, the work of protecting power grid safety is facing many difficulties. One of the biggest challenges is to inspect, clear corridors and handle violations in special-use forests and protective forests. Power lines passing through these areas such as 22 kV route 471, 35 kV route 372, 373, E22.1 have encountered difficulties in clearing due to lack of compensation for trees outside the corridor. In 2024, the main violations of the corridor were caused by people cutting trees, such as trees falling on the corridor, trees falling in the wind, or construction hitting the power lines. The electricity company quickly coordinated with the local police to make a record and handle the incident, quickly restoring power.

The Electricity Industry has coordinated with the People's Committees of wards, communes and villages to propagate to people not to fish, fly kites or shoot fireworks under high-voltage power lines. At the same time, the corridors on branches and main shafts of medium-voltage lines have been cleared, contributing to ensuring safe and stable operation of the power grid. 24/7 inspection of 22 kV, 35 kV and 0.4 kV lines has been carried out to promptly detect poor contact locations, adjust voltage and current at the upstream and downstream of the lines, and ensure phase balance and load sharing between transformer stations.

Digitalization in technical management has also been promoted through the application of PMIS technical management software to monitor equipment records and inspection work. Transformer stations and upstream meter telemetry devices have been fully exploited, thereby creating a plan for transferring and balancing phases in accordance with the actual load. Maintenance of electrical equipment on the grid is also focused on. In 2024, Ha Giang City Electricity completed periodic maintenance and testing of 94/94 transformer stations, ensuring stable and reliable operation of the equipment. To improve the reliability of power supply, the Electricity has implemented improvement measures, including timely inspection and detection of incidents, proper equipment maintenance, and application of new technologies in grid management.

Director of Ha Giang City Electricity, Dang Viet Cuong said: “In 2025, Ha Giang City Electricity will continue to maintain and improve the work of protecting the power grid corridor, especially the inspection, clearing of corridors and handling of violations in special-use forests and protective forests. At the same time, we will implement drastic measures to prevent incidents caused by people's behavior such as prohibiting construction in safety corridors. Propaganda work on labor safety and power grid corridor protection will also be promoted. In addition, digitalization will be enhanced for effective technical management and the application of new technologies in monitoring and maintaining the power grid. Continue to invest in upgrading the telemetry system, improve power lines to ensure stable and safe power supply for the city”.

The work of ensuring occupational safety at Ha Giang City Electricity has achieved remarkable results, but there are still many challenges. In particular, the work of protecting occupational safety and improving the reliability of electricity supply are still issues that need to be improved in the coming time.
